If you’ve tried out the new background recording feature – let us know how it works for you!

  1. Disclaimer, didnt do any extensive testing, but as far as I experienced, background recording is nothing more than background audio like BeatMaker 2 and Auria has had for ages, no inter-app recording as far as I experienced

  2. Background recording works nice, but it is not audiobus. It can handle background MIDI (using MIDI apps, like Geo Synthesizer, and MIDI gear) and audio recording from devices working with GarageBand.

I made a video showing the new features (sorry about the audio in Portuguese)

The best new feature, in my opinion, is to use GarageBand timbres with different music apps, including playing along with the iPod app.

  3. Yea they made it sound like you could record audio from other apps into garageband, which would be an incredible feature. I however, can’t get that to work, so maybe they mean something else.

  4. Apple is full of shit and I will never buy another Apple developed app. Why this shitty app don’t support iOS 5.1 anymore is beyond me. Like my man flava flav say “Don’t believe the hype”.

  5. Would have been nice if they added the much requested Brass instruments.

Things just aren’t the same at Apple since Steve Jobs died.

  6. It’s a amazing that people complain about a fantastic app that costs less than 5 bucks. Since release they have added full midi editing and amazing strings for free,,,,, people’s expectations are so unrealistic, I feel sorry for software developers…..seriously, if you can’t make good music with the current version of GarageBand then you probably have the wrong hobby….stop moaning!

    1. your comment is what amazes me:
apple is not some basement developer struggling for every cent.
fact is that apple has the resources to bring to gb whatever they want. what we have here is omitting features in purpose.
garageband is cheap for a reason. to provide another reason to buy the ipad. luckily there is the beatmaker, sadly nowhere near musical as the excellent gb.

  7. What I’d like is the ability to record the synth’s knob twiddling because there’s so much cool effects that can only be done live atm…
