Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol Z2 Hybrid DJ Mixer

Native Instruments has introduced the Traktor Kontrol Z2 – a new hybrid DJ mixer that they describe as their ‘first professional club mixer’.

Here are the details….

Features:

  • The Kontrol Z2’s 2+2 design supports both analog and digital DJing techniques. Two standalone channels provide connectivity for turntables or CDJs while two additional channels offer control over TRAKTOR Remix Decks, cue points and effects. This combination of hardware and software accommodates a variety of workflow styles, from vinyl and CDJ setups to elaborate controller configurations.
  • Aircraft-grade construction
  • 24-bit soundcard
  • XLR outputs
  • Separate booth output and microphone input
  • HID technology delivers seamless integration with CDJs including enhanced visual and tactile control of key features.
  • Built-in USB hub adds connectivity for additional controllers without having to use the host computer’s USB ports, making it easy to integrate add-on controllers such as KONTROL F1 and X1.
  • ‘Premium-quality’ Innofaders.
  • The two primary channels each feature a dedicated three-band EQ, filter and fader section, while two separate, chunky rotary volume knobs offer control over the Traktor channels.
  • Four additional multi-colored LED buttons for each TRAKTOR channel assigned to control cue points and Remix Decks are placed in their own section on the Kontrol Z2.
  • A master section lets DJs browse files inside Traktor and access controls such as Sync and Quantize.
  • New Macro FX specifically designed for TRAKTOR combine multiple Traktor effects on a single control on the hardware. Customized to classic DJ workflows such as breakdowns, punch-in or blends, Macro FX condense complex effect performances to a single action, increasing the possibilities available to creative DJs.
  • New Flux Mode tracks the time during complicated scratch and effect performances, allowing for creative loop rolls or effects while returning the song accurately to the beat.
  • Includes the latest version of NI’s flagship Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software and Traktor Scratch timecode vinyl and CDs.

  1. I love NI, DJTechTools and Ean Golden, so I may not be impartial, but god damn, what a great video. Seriously, I think that may be the greatest “check out this product”-video from NI, and maybe just in general.

Not that I really want or need that product, but I still loved that video. The only bad part was that it ended so quickly.

      1. A MIDI controller that can seamlessly integrate with Traktor and can be used as a standalone mixer with CDJs….sounds pretty cool to me

  2. If you want to use phono in and out I suggest you buy a rodec mixer.
It’s the best sound I ever experienced with phono in and out.
A traktor mixer will not ad anything to your sound ,maybe it will make it thinner and that’s not what your looking for.
Believe me ,buy a rodec mixer if you want to use it for phono or line in.
And if you want to control traktor ,buy a cheaper midi controller and map it.

  3. one product i’m a little gutted i didn’t play with at bpm 2012 – this is a very clever move by NI. essentially a reaction to both pioneer and allen&heath eating back into the digital DJ market dominance of traktor – and one that will surely maximise sales from fans of the traktor software as they look to become more hardware orientated.

the product is neat too (and agreed, what a video!), if not very basic on the hardware analog side, but probably the first mixer to incorporate controller functions in such a controller kind of way – the first of many products to blur the lines between controlling & mixing?
