The Reon Driftbox Modular Synthesizer

Reon Corp – a Japanese synth maker – was showing their Driftbox line of analog synthesizers at the 2013 NAMM Show.

The Reon modules are available in two formats: as individual boxes or as modules for an integrated modular synthesizer.

The modules include:

  • The Driftbox S – a complete 2VCO/VCF/VCA synth – US $623
  • Driftbox R – a complete synth voice module that features cross modulation, sync and pitch EG – US $800.
  • Driftbox Q – a programmable step sequencer – pricing TBA
  • Driftbox V – an analog vocoder – pricing TBA

Complete systems are also available, priced starting at US $8,844. Distribution in the US is, unfortunately, still to be worked out.

    1. The Driftbox S module is a complete synth and costs $623. That’s right in line with “cheap” synthesizers from the companies you mention.

    2. Technically, it’s all “rich men’s playthings.” If you are able to afford a computer to post your message from, you’re rich from a global perspective.

  1. To quote Ellie Arroway:

“Some celestial event. No – no words. No words to describe it. Poetry! They should’ve sent a poet. So beautiful. So beautiful… I had no idea.”
