MIDI Pattern Sequencer Update Now Available

Igor Vasiliev has released an update to MIDI Pattern Sequencer, a multitouch sequencer for the iPad.

Here’s what’s new in MIDI Pattern Sequencer v1.2:

  • MIDI presets can set initial parameters for tracks such as Bank/Program and CC/RPN/NRPN controllers (learn mode available).
  • Presets can be sent at start of playback/recording or at selecting pattern/song or sent at any time using hotkey.
  • Hotkeys panel is available in any mode with buttons Start/Stop playback, Send presets, Clear track, Clear automation.
  • Hotkey to lock external input to prevent unintended changing pattern notes and automation.
  • Export complete song or individual patterns to MIDI files (include automation).
  • Possibility upload and download complete project files to copy on another iPad or backup.
  • Access through any Web browser to MIDI and project files in local WiFi network.
  • Copying entire measure or defined area to clipboard and paste in specified position.
  • Changing number of patterns in project and song pages (increase).
  • Fixed some minor bugs.

Key Features:

  • Classical data structure: Project – Song – Pattern.
  • Four main control modes – Transport, Keyboard, Edit pattern, Edit cell.
  • No need to save data. All changes will be saved automatically.
  • Pattern tracks can be configured for notes or drum events.
  • Support CC/RPN/NRPN automation controllers for patterns (learn mode available).
  • MIDI presets for Bank/Program change and CC/RPN/NRPN controllers (learn mode).
  • Recording and editing patterns in real time thru internal controls or thru external devices.
  • Playback one or more patterns at once. Start and stop patterns during playback.
  • Changes pattern events (Transposition, Velocity, Duration, Automation) during playback.
  • Editing individual events or changes all events in track (possibility to make Swing/Shuffle rhythm).
  • Song can contain patterns from current project and patterns from any other projects.
  • Advanced set of editing functions for patterns and songs – insert, delete, move and scroll a single event, bars or entire track.
  • Clipboard to copy and paste tracks, measures and events between patterns and songs.
  • Export complete song or individual patterns to MIDI files (include automation).
  • Upload and download complete project files to copy on another iPad or backup.
  • Access to files through iTunes or any Web browser in local WiFi network.
  • Set of different color schemes of interface.

  1. Hi, can this app be used for live playing. I mean that can you play and loop different patterns smoothly to make an arrangement live. Genome is quite good for that but I find it little unstable and buggy…

    1. it’s kind of maddening, there are quite a few sequencers but none have really nailed it- each have a handful of great features and some annoying downfalls. The best one I’ve used (and I’ve tried plenty) is in nanostudio but of course it doesn’t have midi out and shows no signs of adding it. sigh!
