Novation Launchpad & Subdivide Metronome Apps On The iOS Update

The Novation Launchpad and Subdivide Metronome apps are featured on the latest episode of the SweetwaterSound iOS Update:

  • Launchpad is basically a virtual version of Novation’s popular Launchpad controller, combined with a sample playback engine that lets you trigger samples or loops.
  • Subdivide combines a strobe tuner with a metronome.

  1. Don’t really need this app, but I wish everyone who makes ‘Instructional Videos’ or ‘Product Review’ videos were forced to watch this–straight to the point, no bullshit, clear and actually SHOWS the product and let’s us HEAR the results. Too many videos are just full of blah blah blah and not enough substance. Thank you Sweetwater for being professional.

    1. Also notice how little the man uses the “uhm” in his phrases. I think I never heard someone actually speak instead of just making noises

  2. I’ve been tinkering with the Novation LaunchPad (and Launchkey) iPad apps for a while (both with and without the Novation Launchkey controller keyboard). It’s a fun app, but it’s not really ready for professional game time – yet. For instance:
    * The LaunchPad app is a black box. You can’t customize it with your own samples and loops.
    * The LaunchKey app’s arp speed is not controllable, nor can it sync with any orther app INCLUDING their own LaunchPad app.
Once they refine and “productionize” this app (at a cost, no doubt) it will be a game-changer for us iOS musicians. Glad I got in at the ground floor. If Novation could merge some of the the MiniNova’s sounds into both iPad apps… watch out!
