How To Use Moby’s Music In Your Movie And Never Pay Him A Dime

Moby has updated mobygratis.com – a site that lets you freely use his music for non-profit film, video or shorts.

“The music on mobygratis.com is 100% free for all non-commercial uses,” he notes. If the way you use his music does turn into a commercial project, any money he’d otherwise get from music licensing goes to the Humane Society.

On the site, Moby has made a selection of over 150 tracks from his catalog of music available to licence for free, via a simple online application system. The catalog includes tracks from Destroyed, Wait For Me, Hotel, 18 and Play, along with a host of remixes and unreleased tracks.

See the site for details.

  1. Good move, he could certainly use some good karma after the way he whored his music out to all those cheesy commercials in the 90s

  2. So none of you are would-be film composers? You won’t even be able to get your foot in the door on a low budget film if they can have Moby for free. It’s quite the double edged sword (like everything else these days). Just sayin’.

  3. I am a long-time fan of his music, and in interviews he’s always seemed like a good guy and pretty down to earth. This just further underscores that impression. Very cool move.
