Noatikl 2 Mobile Brings Generative + Aleatoric + Stochastic + Algorithmic Composition To iOS

noatikl

Intermorphic has released Noatikl 2 Mobile – an iOS version of the generative music software.

Noatikl 2 is the evolution of the SSEYO Koan Generative Music system, used in the 90s by Brian Eno and othersl. To generate its MIDI music notes and controller information Noatikl uses generative / aleatoric / stochastic / algorithmic music techniques and parameters. These can be used to drive & control settings of favourite external synths, FX units and samplers or an integrated MIDI, Sound & FX multi-synth.

Here is a two-part video introduction to Noatikl 2 Mobile:

  1. Well, if you’re going for a Muzak effect, better this than some big band version of “Smoke on the Water” being played on an elevator. I think Pond tops this one, but if you want a better generative experience, check out Synplant. http://soniccharge.com/synplant/ It all depends on which platform and approach strike you best.

  2. I have used Mixtikl alot, and you can get som really great tunes out of that. I have just bought this one, and not had the time to play to much with it. But seeing as the synths seems the same, i am a bit uncertain what is different with this one.

  3. could be good dont get me wrong but it does seem that ios apps and technologies just do on a smart phone what you do on a computer or a relative hardware. yes cheap, and very much fun but they tend to be limited.
the effect on music making has not been ground making by pushing the boundaries of music but by creating a diverse wealth of tools that are accessible to almost any one with a half decent device.
i think it only time before the phone part dispensed with and the device becomes an instrument its self, only by buying the device you just buy the body, the instrument you down load and pick what you want. it can be synth drums or bass and more likely all.
