  1. Really curious to see what this product is capable of.
Recording through headphone out is a pain in the *ss. And I think there is some loss in sound quality unless you have the best cables and audio interface.
I have other midi solutions but this product is like a perfect all-in one audio-midi setup solution for ios synths.
I’ve been waiting for this for over a year.
Europe (Netherlands) still doesn’t have it and Thomann.de keeps delaying the release date.
Come on iconnect take my money!

    1. @brutal Amptec, iConnectivity’s distributor in the Netherlands should be receiving their first shipment this week as most most of our other European distributors. Please also feel free to contact us directly if you need help finding a unit.

  2. Ordered it some time ago from Klemm Music. Official distributer. Still not delivered and not in stock. Waiting since the beginning of the year

  3. Using this on a daily basis in our Studio C rig right now. Very nice device. Have an iPad 3 (running iOS 6) connected to the unit – and the other end hooked up to a MacBook Pro. I have an MS2000 hooked up to one of the DIN ports – with a pair of cables input and output both work fine via pass thru’. I also have a MIDI keyboard hooked up to the other DIN port now as well. Again – pass thru’ from that is fine via the device. On this setup I also have a couple of other USB keyboard devices aggregated with it – as well as a Digitech RP1000 pedal. All play happily together in the aggregate and the total latency is around 8ms with everything hooked in.

The audio quality from the iConnectMIDI2+ is superb without the need for the D/A -> A/D conversion from the iPad jack interface (and no filtering either).

The devices show up in the DAW as 4 channels that can be assigned to DAW devices – of which only 3 are used at present – the bidirectional MIDI via the iConnectMIDI2+ channels 2.1 and 2.2 and the bidirectional MIDI to the iPad on channel 2.3.

Inside the iPad – if an app requires / provides it one can then select the appropriate channels to receive / send MIDI on – e.g. in Animoog – which gives you the same 4 channels 1.1 – 1.4 on the iPad USB socket. Other iPad synths may auto select the channel for you.

MIDI can be sent via two MIDI channels – e.g. 1 and 2 to the two independent synths engines in – say – iPolysix or Magellan from your DAW. If you have two keyboards – or an easily manageable keyboard split that can be set up to send 1/2 the kbd to one MIDI channel and 1/2 to the other – then you can drive each synth engine separately from the same connection (2.3 out from the DAW – 1.3 in in the iPAD).

The config apps on both Mac and iPad (haven’t tried on a PC yet – but it’s basically the same there too) are very easy to use.

The *only* downside from my perspective is the lack of a PSU supplied. That’s additional. It’s not necessary for normal use, but, you can only charge the iPad with the PSU connected. The unit itself is bus-powered, so, it will function if connected to a Mac or PC. Just watch your iPad battery if you don’t have the PSU. I have one on order from iConnectivity.

Some folks elsewhere have suggested it might have been nice to have the unit allow a direct USB device hookup to the PC port to allow device -> iPad directly. But that’s something I think is being saved for the 4+.

Looking forward to the increased connectivity options in the 4+ too! Network MIDI, hub connectivity and so on.

I am looking forward most of all to making more music with the unit as the MIDI and audio bridge in our iPad rig.

(If you want some more details, I’ve been posting some bits and pieces on the MusicInclusive blog about using the iConnectMIDI2+ as well.)

Disclaimer: I have no connection with iConnectivity – just simply a satisfied customer. I will also say that in figuring out a couple of config / hardware issues – their support team has been wonderfully responsive.

    Kind regards

    1. I am having issues with my unit. Granted, I have only had time to devote maybe an hour to trouble shooting. I can record audio just fine on my mbp in Live. It sounds great. What I cannot do is monitor the audio before I record it. Suggestions? I know the solution is likely simple and a result of user error, but I’ve been going around in circles with iConnectivity support. Thanks in advance.

      1. @ Goat Monster, I would be happy to help. Can you send us a support ticket or update yours if you already have one open. I don’t typically monitor support so please mention Al sent you and I will help you directly.

        1. great. thanks. I appreciate it. I’ll update the ticket. I’ve sent screen grabs of my current set up, but it appears they got lost in the shuffle.

Not sure what the thumbs downs are about. Thumbs down trolls, are you mad I’m having problems? Me too, but I’ve accepted it’s probably a shortcoming on my end, as iConnectivity has been great with customer support in the past. So, then, are you mad I supplied caveats to my situation, or are you just angry teenagers?

      1. Hello,

Just got today my iConnnect but unfortunatelly I am having serious troubles with my PC. The iConnnect iConfig start and remain stuck when check for the device. I am using windows 7.
Does it works at 86x? 64bit? Mine is 32bit.
Also do u know guys if does asio4all works just at 44.1 kHz?
Please I really need an help!
        Thanks,
        Dom

  4. Also been waiting since these were announced; excellent example of how now not to launch a new product!

It’s worse that some lucky people have these, yet others, including myself, who would dearly like to get their hands on one, are left high and dry!

Goat – arm your track? Check your audio settings? I don’t know you but I hate the idea that you have one and can’t fecking use it! Grrrrrrrr!

Is there another solution? Anywhere, at any cost?

    1. thanks for the suggestions. yeah…track was armed. I recorded audio. I’ve tried multiple audio set ups… using iconnectmidi as input/output, conglomerate device, etc. It’ll get straightened out. Mostly a lack of time on my end.

  5. I love mine! It interfaces perfectly with Ableton. I also have an OP-1 that I use as synth/midi controller with the first gen Apogee Duet 2. None the less, I love how I can play with the moog apps like Animoog and route the audio directly into my daw with no extra cabling or loss in audio quality. Plus it interfaces beautifully with my Lemur app, no more wifi latency BLAH!!!! So happy with this thing, worth every cent! Only complaint was it took me a minute to get the midi channels setup and configured right. You need to download the midi drivers from the site and have it plugged in to configure your midi channels. Then everything is smooth sailing. It is literally the swiss army knife of midi in the 21st century of iOS devices meeting analog midi.

  6. I ordered mine a long time ago end hope to receive it soon. If everything works fine, this will be a game changer! Today it’s not really possible to perform with an iPad, because of the lack of possibility to load the device parallel to use it with an audio or midi device. I don’t want to load my device everyday, only to be sure that I can play my synth in the evening. So why the hell didn’t you enclose a PSU! It’s some dollars in china, so please…?!?

I hope to receive mine in the next weeks, in the shop I ordered it (House of Sound, big dealer in Switzerland), the expected delivery date is the 31st of October, ouch!

According to that video (with comments disabled), you have to drop the native ASIO driver of your audio interface and replace it with ASIO4ALL in order to get audio from iPad into your DAW.

I couldn’t believe what I saw, having expected some kind of clever solution, like a plugin receiving the audio and routing it into DAW.

I will certainly not try if ASIO4ALL supports my Firewire interface (no mention of that on its page) and (should it work) reconfigure all my inputs and outputs just because iConnect demands it from me in order to use the most interesting feature on the device. Pre-order cancelled. I really had high hopes for this, but a MIDI only interface I can get cheaper.

    1. I’ve been using ASIO4ALL for like a decade, with at least 3 different FireWire interfaces. It is free, usually performs better than native drivers, and is the only solution (that I’m aware of) for multiple devices under ASIO. Not sure why you would get so bent out of shape over this….

      1. most likely because macs and osx run core audio as the audio driver, and this would be a kink in the chain, having to replace a perfectly functioning audio driver just to get this product to function as ‘intended’. also, the key here would be multiple devices… hence the… multiple ins and outs…

        1. What does OSX have to do with it? This person is using ASIO, which means they are using Windows. Or was this just a “macs are better” post?

  9. Can you grab “streaming” from a device to another or the audio has to be integrated in daw/ios apps? Would be cool to use i as a universal audio recorder (for easy music making not for “consumer” purpose).

Can someone give exemplesof audiopass thru?
