Synthrotek has announced that the Voice of Saturn Sequencer kit is now available in their online store.
The kit – available in packages ranging from bare-bones PCB to assembled PCBs – lets you create a 10 position step sequencer.
Features:
- 10 steps, sequence can be shortened by connecting 1/8? cable from step to reset jack
- Voltage Out from 0 to ~7.5V
- Gate out and S-Trigger out for older Moogs
- Clock input / output to connect multiple sequencers ( for sync’ing, not extending sequence)
- Hold Switch pauses sequence, manually steps when clock is off 9V Battery or Power Supply (AC or DC 12V)

Why 10 steps? 5/4 beatmaking?
TEN steps? I don’t get it, why not 16…or even just 8? is it for poly rhythmic math rockers?
This is probably based off of the 4017 chip, which counts through 10 outputs, then resets. Look up the Baby 10 sequencer.
I checked their site and the also have a 16-step kit.
You can reset this at any step, so it seems like 10 steps instead of 8 is a little bonus.
The Berlin School guys would sometimes use an 8-step sequence controlling pitch with a second odd-number sequence controlling the filter – so they’d get much more interesting sequences.
There are ten steps because that is how many are available on a 4017 ic (the chip used in most DIY sequencers). In the video you see that it can be shortened to any number of steps that you want by patching the reset input to one of the steps. 10 steps are more versatile than 8, but if you want to make a sequencer that is always limited to 8 steps then you can just hard wire the 9th step to reset on the pcb.
