StepPolyArp MIDI Step Polyphonic Arpeggiator Adds Probability

steppolyarpStepPolyArp – a real-time MIDI arpeggiator for iPad – has been updated with probability for events and more.

The arpeggiator can automatically generate melodic patterns from notes or chords played in real time. StepPolyArp can be used to control MIDI instruments, sequencers like Logic, Cubase, Live, other MIDI sequencers and virtual instruments installed on the same iPad.

Here’s what’s new in StepPolyArp 2.2:

  • Possibility to add a playing probability to an event
  • Virtual Midi ports simplified
  • Automatic detection of Midi clock sync
  • Adding categories in preset manager
  • Option to save the scale with the preset
  • Bugs fixed

StepPolyArp is available in the App Store. If you’ve used StepPolyArp, let us know what you think of it!

  1. Very happy with this update. The “Possibility to add a playing probability to an event” is great for making evolving rhythms.

Stochastik Drum Machine has the perfect interface for this, but unfortunately has no MIDI out (and is not working on iOS 7). But being able to set chance of play just by filling each slot with a simple gesture is perfect.

If only StepPolyArp had this interface… as it is you have to individually set the chance for each event (note). Maybe in a future update 🙂

    1. Yes – excellent feature, but I’m not clear why probability wasn’t handled like the other continuous parameters, like Velocity.
