One of the hottest recent electronic music gear stories has been the Arturia MicroBrute. It hasn’t even officially been announced yet, and it’s been generating hundreds of reader comments.
Sonic State’s Nick Batt has the new analog synth in his lab and he has the first review of the Arturia MicroBrute. And he’s impressed.
“Is love too strong a word to use for an inanimate object?” asks Batt. “Perhaps. But I really clicked with the MicroBrute.”

Wish it had an arp, but that’s certainly not a show stopper.
More than anything, it just looks like a lot of fun. I passed on the miniBrute, but this synth definitely has my interest.

I’m happy with my minibrute…if it was a poly I’s be jealous…microbrute is basically just a minibrute with less…do you agree? (well…except for the rest in the sequencer)
Less in some ways, more in others.
The analog connectivity on this makes it a no brainer buy for modular owners, because it’s a sequencer, a sound module, a cv controller, an EG, an lfo – the patching will make it a really flexible piece of gear.
Nick does great reviews, but he should have dropped it on the table a couple of times so we could hear whether it goes THUNK or clatters and spits out a knob. Just curious.
