Wow, that was spot-on. What great musicianship. It reminded me of a vintage favorite by Jack Lancaster (Lyricon) and Robin Lumley (keys) plus members of Brand X. It was a band whose lineup was a bit fluid, but where guys like Phil Collins really got to work out their more jazzoid, showoff chops. This is 7 minutes plus, but the great dynamics are echoed by “Hungry Ghost.” Good way to keep the fires of actual virtuosity lit, guys.

But why do people always have to make these stupid face expressions when playing solos?
Don’t know what it is about jazz and fusion type music but it leaves me bewildered. I always think that they start together for a few bars then wonder off to do their own thing for 10 minutes then end the last few bars back together.
I must be a philistine, or so they tell me. I hate opera as well.
I don’t get what you are (not) hearing when you say they ‘wander off’. They are locked together like some kind of supernatural mind-meld situation or something the entire time.
Holy crap, I was at this show! It was one of the best live performances I have seen in a long, long time.
