Five Artists Exploring Gestural Music Control

This video, via Geert Bevin, showcases five very different artists that are exploring the possibilities of gestural music control.

The artists are all using the Leap Motion + Geco MIDI software combination to capture their gestures, but each is using it in a unique way.

  1. Looks ridiculous and awful to me but I’m not a trendy guy so I’ll stick with moving multiple faders and x/y pads and doing Live P.A.’s the old fashioned way.

  2. If you were able to play this well and practiced it there is no reason you couldn’t have way more stage presence then a lot of ” computer ” musicians and that would bring more audience appreciation. So why wouldn’t you do it?

  3. Anyone who hates on this new gestural technology is clearly missing the point. It’s 2014 and people are craving new ways to express themselves musically.

    So if you can use the body itself to compose, er, that’s kind of next level in my book:)

    The body as a generative instrument? BRING IT ON!
