At the 2014 NAMM ShowiConnectivity announced iConnectAUDIO4+, their newest audio and MIDI interface for Mac, PC, and iOS.

iConnectAUDIO4+ is a multi-host audio and MIDI interface for MAC, PC, and iOS that combines several of iConnectivity’s technologies in a single device.

iConnectAUDIO4+ key features:
iConnectivity_iConnectAUDIO4plus

  • Multi-Host and Host Port – use two computer devices (Mac / PC / iOS) at once, or use a single computing device with several and/or MIDI peripherals (with class-compliant devices connected to a powered USB hub.)
  • Audio and MIDI passThru routes audio digitally between two computing devices
  • 4 XLR – 1/4″ TRS combo analog inputs
  • 4 – 1/4″ TRS balanced analog outputs
  • 1 X 1 regular MIDI in/out
  • iConfig software (Mac, Windows, iOS) makes it simple to set up filtering/routing/merging scenes – which are also stored in flash memory on the device
  • High-resolution audio – up to 24-bit/96kHz AD/DA conversion
  • USB audio and MIDI Class-Compliant for easy, plug-and-play set up
  • Charges an iOS device

iConnectAUDIO4+’s Multi-Host technology supports multiple audio and MIDI peripherals, as well as also multiple computing devices, all at once, allowing any combination of up to 2 Mac, PC, and iOS devices to share iConnectAUDIO4+’s I/O.

iConnectivity’s multi-host and Audio and MIDI passThru technologies bridge iOS, Macs, and PCs in a professional environment, with many practical applications. Control a virtual instrument or any music program running on one computer device from another device. Audio and MIDI signals flow back and forth without extra cables, and without audio degradation.

The Host Port is another unique technology. Many peripherals use USB for MIDI I/O, but an iOS device can only access one of them with its single port. The iConnnectAUDIO4+ Host Port eliminates that limitation by accommodating several Class-Compliant USB MIDI devices at the same time.

iConnectivity’s iConfig software for iOS, MAC, PC (included) offers control over iConnectAUDIO4+’s I/O, providing direct control over audio and MIDI routing. Snapshots are then stored in flash memory on the device.

Pricing and Availability.

iConnectAUDIO4+ is projected to be commercially available worldwide mid-2014. Its MSRP and projected street price are to be determined. For more information, check out the iConnectivity website.

  1. Reeeally wishing I’d held off on the 2+ right about now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic, but some AD/DA converters for the iPad would be most welcome, as would USB host mode.

  2. The 2 has been fantastic, the only thing I wish it could do is plug directly into my X32 Rack when I don’t want to put the Mac Pro in the mix. This one device will solve all of my remaining connectivity issues!

  3. bought from a website the iconnect midi4+ in june and still waiting for it. now they announce another product for this summer… is the midi4+ was just a guinea pig product to develop the know how behind the new product? seems they don’t worry a bit about the fact that very few really waited for the 4+ instead of buying the 2?
I really am unable to mask my “resentment”.
They really need some competitors or maybe Apple should just make this possible without their extra hardware (as openly suggested during Sonic Touch review).

    1. I think Sonic Touch nailed it about the iConnectMIDI2+, namely why doesn’t Apple write a bit of clever software to enable the iPad to act as a class-compliant audio and MIDI device?

  4. Hey guys – how about you put out the product that were supposed to last year before you announce something new.

Also, bring back standard-sized USB connections on the iConnectMIDI devices, because without them, they’re not as useful.

    1. I have the 2+, and it uses a standard USB connector. Pictures of the 4+ and Audio4+ also show standard sized USB A and USB B connectors.
So what exactly do you want them to “bring back”?

  5. Like others have said, where is the original 4+ that people pre-ordered last year? Does this new thing exist or is it another joke?

  6. When you preorder something you’re beholden to things like manufacturing delays. If you bought from a webpage that required you to pay in advance that’s your mistake. I’m sure they would’ve preferred to release the product at an earlier time given that’s how they make money, but then again it’s easier to assume it’s a conspiracy just to steal your money. Hell, if you’re waiting for the 4+ I suggest you cancel that and buy the new iteration so you can suffer more setbacks and we can all listen to you kevetch.

You may wish to evaluate your personal sense of entitlement.

  7. With NAMM 2013 came the MIDI2/4+, and the 2+ arrives 11 months later. The 4+ was never released, yet is still available to pre-order. Those are facts, Jack. It’s hard to believe this new thing will ever be available.

You may wish to evaluate your definition of pre-order, and withhold personal judgement.

    1. I refer you back to my first sentence. That’s what happens when you preorder. You aren’t entitled to a product magically appearing in your studio overnight. I’ve had the 4+ on back order from Sweetwater since it became available. I’m planning my current setup around it. I also understand that iConnectivity doesn’t have the power to force internation manufactures to produce on their schedule. Have you ever looked at what it takes to get hardware made if your aren’t a massive corporation? Difficult is an understatement. Thus, chill out and enjoy the product when it actually arrives. If the 2+ is any indication it’ll be worth the wait.
