RIP Devo’s Bob Casale – Not Through Being Cool

bob-casale-devo-ripDevo’s Gerald Casale announced today that his brother Bob Casale, aka Bob 2, died yesterday, from heart failure:

Bob Casale of Devo. Born: July 14th, 1952 . Deceased: February 17th, 2014

As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning. He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got. He was excited about the possibility of Mark Mothersbaugh allowing Devo to play shows again. His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all.

  1. 🙁 Sad news. Devo is awesome – I’m so glad I got to see them play a few years ago!

Synthtopia readers would have liked the show I think – they played their old analog synths, one of which went wildly out of tune in the middle of a song.

  2. A sad day.

FWIW, he did a cameo in the Delta “80’s” flight safety video. About 20 seconds in – you’ll know him when you see him.

    And – thanks Bob.

  3. He was a mongaloid.

Big respect to family and friends of Bob.
he entertained us in the North of England ,
His work was known on the council estates of Britain , by the twisted
    post punk kids.
    RIP
