The Bob Moog Foundation shared this video, taken from a 1970 promo for the film Performance, starring Mick Jagger.
In the clip, Jagger is shown working on his Moog modular synthesizer, which, the narrator notes, is capable of “reproducing any sound in the World”.
Performance was critically panned when it was released. Reviewer Richard Schickel described it as “the most completely worthless film I have seen since I began reviewing.” Since then, it has earned a cult following.
That wasn’t really his first film score, was it? Didn’t he score (also on a Moog) and act the previous year in Kenneth Anger’s “Invocation of My Demon Brother”? Must’ve been a PR move to sweep under the rug such a subversive film.
