Tracktion Updated With Improved MIDI Comping, Rendering and More

Tracktion Software Corporation (TSC) has released of Tracktion 5.3, an update to their multi-platform DAW.

Here’s what’s new in Tracktion 5.3:

  • The Tracktion design team has streamlined user workflow and enhanced creativity by expanding the functionality of the program’s tools. The “comp tool” can now be used to merge MIDI clips and audio clips alike. In addition, multiple unrelated clips can be selected and turned into single files that can be rapidly edited, reversed and comped. These new capabilities are collectively known as “Super Comping.”
  • Rendering has now become a creative tool as well. MIDI clips and notes can be converted to audio clips, like “Super Comping,” then manipulated as new audio clips. This speeds the editing process and provides flexibility when composing.
  • Tracktion V5.3 also introduces a new Plug-in browser, located on the main (Edit) page sidebar. It’s now possible to tag, search and find Plug-ins with just a couple keystrokes. Plug-ins now simply drag & drop where needed directly from the browser.
  • This version also significantly improves MIDI performance. It’s now possible to automate gestures and inflections on individual notes. A new multi-channel MIDI clip support and polyphonic aftertouch have also been added.

Tracktion is available for US $59.99.

  1. Does traction allow midi control of external hardware? I’m really curious to hear people’s experience with traction. I’m fairly new to using synths, and DAW’s and am currently using Ableton live Intro, which doesn’t control external midi devices.

    1. Are you sure you can’t control external MIDI devices?
      Their page says
“Here are the features common to all editions of Live 9:
      .
      .
      MIDI output to hardware synths”

      1. One of the devices listed as being unavailable on Live Intro is “External Instrument”

        From Ableton:
        “External Instrument
a tool for integrating your external hardware synthesizers into your Live Sets with the ease and flexibility of plug-ins”

Maybe there is another way to control external hardware with live, I’ll look into it.
Still curious to hear others views/experiences with Tracktion.

  2. Tracktion offers everything that other big name DAWs do and then some…
Truly awesome package for very little money. Definitely worth investigating.
