The more I hear the System one, the more I don’t like it… I must go try it in store before a final opinion. But I find it has a very digital sound. Tiny and brilliant.
What is this ‘digital sound’ that you don’t like?
Like I said, the sound is very tiny and brilliant, noisy digital. It lacks warmth and depth. This is not what I expect from a synth, for this type of sound the VSTs do the job nicely. There are a lot of VA synth, with a more interesting sound. Matter of taste, not mine 😉 For me the less interresting of Aira serie.

Just a bunch od noise. you need to have somebody who knows how to play keyboards. My 3 year old can play better than this. not impressed or eager to buy based on this video !!
Great to see people using a synthesizer as a synthesizer. The comments about playing ability are quite comical , if we consider some rather dreadful music played by virtuoso players.
How can some play this as a traditional keyboard player might of it’s only four note polyphonic?

Hard to complain about aliasing when Roland features it as an effect. Though high-end response is good as long as you don’t bit crush.
hey, what do you expect? it is just another mainstream digital synth. and the concept of ‘we put a synth engine in – but never mind, just put another synth engine in which comes from the same people that made the first one’ does not sound too convincing to me.
this thing will never be as flexible as plug in synths are on a computer or even apps on an ipad. so i do not really understand why every other day we see a post about it in here…

Not so great of a demo sorry but thanks for the effort! Is this a re-release of the same engine from past synths? I don’t get how this is better than Gaia or SH-201. Is it me or I can also hear aliasing (aside from the bitcrusher which is normal). ?
Maybe read a bit about the gear before you post. IF you hear aliasing, you probably need to get your hearing checked. There is no aliasing.
SH-201 had a low-res, steppy, screechy lowpass filter (similar the the MC series) and terrible aliasing oscillators.
The Gaia had a much improved filter but some audible stepping, and the top end was limited.
The Aira line has clean high end response, smooth filter tracking, and vastly improved oscillators.
Hey guys thanks for checking out my demo vid! All sounds were recorded via ableton, stereo line level input. I initially loved the sequencer which I demoed here, but the raw sound of the AIRA was (as many have commented) digital and harsh – It also digitally clips if the levels are above 5 or if the amp section is turned too far to the left, making it difficult to identify which knob is causing the distortion. I still think it is a great synth for basslines and leads, but I really wanted a poly or semi-polyphonic synth and ended up returning the aira and getting a used roland Juno 106 which I freaking love…
For the few people who say “my 3 year old can play better” and various, I’m a doctoral candidate in piano performance who has been a finalist in more than a few international piano competitions with a ton of concert experience – this video wasn’t intended to highlight my own playing but to show features of the synth (like the arpeggiator/scatter knob) which hadn’t been shown in other videos (This video was made the same day I got the Aira and was definitely an improvisation, not a final track)…haters gonna hate 🙂
