Tera Synth – a modular virtual analog software synth for iPad – is now available.

Here”s what developer VirSyn has to say about Tera Synth:

Explore new sound spaces with Tera Synth that go beyond the emulation of synthesizer legends. Use the power of analog and digital synthesis combined with new modules for physical modelling. Wireless patching of modules combined with an intelligible modulation routing simplifies the development of new synthesizer designs from scratch. Distortion effect, Delay/Chorus/Phaser and Reverb effects give your sounds the final polishing. Tera Synth gives your music an individual character with its unique fat sound. The well-designed algorithms and the economical modular structure provides you with a comparatively high voice yield. Precise timing with the unique built-in Arpeggiator let you feel the rhythm.

  1. After going through the presets, to me it has a very nice sound quality. I especially like that the presets cover a wide range of tones but are not overly effected (not drenched in delays, distortion, chorus, flanger, etc.).

The oscillators & noise sound great to my ear. The layout of the interface seems very usable and workable. The fonts are a bit small for some labels, but all the working controls are quite nice. I like that the values are easily controlled and are shown in high-res in the top of the screen (so your finger isn’t in the way of visual feedback).

This is a versatile synth, but not without some limitations. Will report back after more tinkerings.

  2. Very nice app. Lots of tweaking available. Some nice percussion sounds. I like the the way the help system works.
MIDI out would be nice to take advantage of the Arp.

    1. Even Cube? That’s the only VirSyn synth app I don’t have except Tera (still debating). Cube seems too similar in character to Addictive and microTera, but I could be mistaken.

  3. Love that it has physical modelling, in the form of a Digital Waveguide Oscillator. Not many parameters, but it’s a key building block. Feed it a spike of white noise and it turns is into a nice bright decaying string sound. Highly recommended.

  4. Just bought this last night. It’s going to be a few late nights getting to grips with this beast… but boy, that’s going to be a great ride 🙂 Just give us WIST and you got a go-to synth for live performance. Great job so far 🙂
