Strom for iPad Overview & Demo

The latest episode of The Sound Test Room takes a look at Strom for iPad, ‘an incredibly fun sampler’ for the iPad that offers tight integration with the Elektron Analog Rytm.

This video focuses on using Strom, independent of the Analog Rytm.

STROM is available now in the App Store for US $4.99. Rytm Upgrade is an In-App-Purchase. Elektron Analog Rytm is a hardware instrument which must be purchased separately. A USB-Lightning Camera adapter is required for the MIDI connection.

    1. still, samplr doesn’t have pitch control & play direction control as strom, but if it gets one strom won’t be a competition unless you have elektron analog rytm

    2. can you play samplr via midi ? i really love the app, but its kinda useless for me if i can’t play it via midi notes ^^

didn’t download storm so far, but as soon as i figure uout if it lets me map midi notes to the slices aim in 🙂

      1. no you can’t play midi notes on either Strom or Samplr with a midi controller, but Samplr, does have a keyboard Mode (on screen) that you can play any sample you load with.

        1. i wanna use my ipad as a sampler in my hardware setup, if i cant trigger notes via midi its useless for me. 🙁

samplr is great, really had some fun with it, but as soon as i figured out it doesnt have midi i deleted it.
but miss a good sampler since then.

i cant understand why developers dont see the need for midi. with all the docks and ios-able soundcards

i dont know, probably midi learn and even straight midinotes are hard to implement ^^

  1. Kinda hate demos that spend more time on file and library functions than unique sonic features. Also, the best way to get my attention and inspire my purchase is with a demo featuring excellent musical use of the app.
