  1. If I upgrade, is it going to change any of my saved settings in existing projects that I have going in my DAW with Omnisphere 1? I’m a little bit afraid that I’ll lose saved data within projects. Anyone have input on this?

    1. I read (on their site, hint hint) that it contains the version 1 presets, but don’t know if that is any guarantee about your old projects….

  2. Wow, I’ve never seen an update this radical for any plug-in, ever. I’m a big fan of Omnisphere, although I probably never would’ve bought the original (500 bucks is a lot of scratch for a software instrument), but an awesome friend gifted it to me (legit, in the box, not warez). There really are sounds that you just can’t get with anything else to be had with the original. I’ve never used anything else that I can get such amazing blends of organic and electronic elements. The entire synth is so simple to understand, with everything clean and tidy and given it’s own pages so as not to clutter the interface. The patch browser is the best ever designed and the onboard effects are worthy of being standalone plug-ins themselves. It was already a sound design monster, and with these new features I think we may well have the new king of synths. I will gladly purchase the upgrade. Support Spectrasonics, these guys make fantastic products.

  3. h o l d i n g o f f o n t h e u p g r a d e
(I really don’t want to…my buddy is getting the free upgrade so I will experience it first…for me it’s not a question of if but of when)

  4. Eric Persing has a f*g winner face, and this is just because Eric Persing and Spectrasonics are f*g enormous winners. One of the most incredible update for sure, for an already incredible soft. Very hard and talented workers, f*g winners.

  5. “Note transposition for step seq-style patterns” …. the feature i have been waiting for … thank you Spectrasonics! Now i am counting how much time it will take me to just listen to all new presets …

  6. I own Omnisphere 1 and rate it as one of the best softsynths but I am a bit annoyed that I have the same product as others and have to pay $249 where others who have more recently purchased (October 2014) get ver 2 free.I have moved back to pretty much all hardware synths so only use Omisphere 1 about 5 times in the last 6 months so not sure if I can be bothered paying for what others can get for free.

    1. Wow, just wow…your right. I won’t ever buy another piece of software again because it may go on sale or there may be an upgrade that I won’t get for free. You my friend are a genius.

    2. Hi, in practical terms no one is getting Omnisphere 2 for free, if someone recently purchased Omnisphere 1 they are eligible for the upgrade to Omnisphere 2 without paying an additional fee..but don’t forget that they just purchased the instrument at full price.

It is in fact a pretty generous move to allow a grace period of several months for those who made the purchase just around the time when Omnisphere 2 was announced, but this doesn’t take anything away from users who have been using Omnisphere 1 for years (which also included receiving software updates and new patches for free) : )

  7. Yep, that’s one superior instrument and then some. When Camel Audio folded, I mourned the loss of Alchemy and have been aiming at a new iMac and Omnisphere as a replacement. Hearing that Apple bought the Camel assets was killer good news, as Alchemy will (probably) appear for Logic, just as Redmatica’s AutoSampler appears in Mainstage now. That’s not about to stop me, as I’ve grown enough to be ready for a bigger synth and few come as big as this. Eric has been my hero ever since I had a D-50, whose voicing had a lot of his hand in it. Talk about having big ears! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m going to save even harder now, hell yeah. The level of Fun in the thing is pegs the meter.

Triple thumbs-up to the admins for deleting the Down vote section. Opinions and thumbs-ups are useful, whereas trolls should be smeared in roast beef spread and thrown to the tigers. Its a good move that’ll make a great site better.

  8. The people who get Omni 2 for free have had Omni 1 for 6 months. I have had mine for 8 months I have to pay $249. Not happy

    1. @dickdangers So where does it end? 9 Months? Then the people that bought it 10 months ago won’t be happy. How about 11 months? Then the ones that bought it a year ago won’t be happy. Regardless, someone will ‘win’ and someone will ‘lose’.

  9. This is the best soft synth in the Universe, hands, fingers and toes down. If you email Spectrasonics they will respond with a link specific to your upgrade, my came in less than an hour. I have been using it
since 5 am this morning and can’t get enough of it. I’ve laid down 4 songs today and the inspiration is still flowing from Omnisphere 2 like Niagara Falls on steroids.

    1. Hi Nick, I’m Nick too, have same problem. How did you fix it? Please reply to thewritersagency at hm dot com Thanks Nick!

  10. As a VIP you can’t beat the $199 up grade price…. Amazing STUFF!
Does anybody know if there is a up grade in the works for Stylus RMX? A up grade here would be sweet.
