Ambient Synth Jam On The Roland JD-Xi Synthesizer

Sunday Synth Jam: In this video, UK producer KlaatuNinja explores taking the new Roland JD-Xi synthesizer in an unexpected direction.

Most of Roland’s demos for the JD-Xi so far have had a dance music focus, exploring the JD-Xi’s drum machine and sequencing capabilities.

This synth jam instead explores the ‘chilled out’ side of the JD-Xi, with lush pads, downtempo drums and relaxed sequences.

  1. Nice see and hear a demo that is right in my wheel house. I bought a JD-Xi, and it is a great jamming and idea tool. Most of the mini synths out there are really just that, but the JD does it pretty well and is very flexible. Nice Demo!

    1. ^^^ Kaysa here is another great artist doing some wonderful work with the Xi, breaking it out of the EDM box that Roland seems to want to keep it in. I only hope that Roland sits up and takes notice of some of the better work coming out of its customers before it release yet another tedious “Dance Collection” on Axial.

      1. Yup, they’re just releasing dance expansions so far… 4 months later, and I’m still waiting for a software editor. Haven’t really dived into the sound creation yet, cause I hate menu diving…

  2. I’ve told KN on the JD-Xi FB group how much I wish Roland themselves would feature his great work. If you only watch their own demos or listen to the presets on the Xi, you’d think it was an EDM-only board (and not a very good one at that). The Xi is capable of a lot of power and variety, and should appeal to many more people than the DJ set.

    1. Fantastic work. I love my JD-Xi for its ability to inspire improvs which I love to make
I’m also using my Jaydee for more mellow work.
If want to listen here is a you tube I did

Thanks and let’s hope Roland doesn’t forget about this synth and give is an editor before they move on…
