ZAQ Audio has announced that the Zaquencer – custom firmware for the Behringer BCR2000 that turns it into a multi-channel step sequencer – has been updated.
The Zaquencer is a custom firmware for the Behringer BCR2000 that will turn it into a standalone MIDI step sequencer. Developer Christian Stöcklmeier explains that the Zaquencer is not a preset but a new operating system for your BCR2000, effectively turning it into “a whole different device.” No PC is needed for operation after the initial firmware upload.
The Zaquencer 1.04 update adds the following features:
- regular and inverse MIDI delay
- ratcheting with sub-modes glide up and glide down, mini arpeggiator
- 2-note-interval chords
Current Zaquencer owners will find the download of the 1.04 full version in their account for free. The demo of the sequencer has also been updated.

This is a fantastically impressive mod – I actually bought a BCR2000 just so I could run it, although the software license cost me more than the control surface.
I am surprised that behringer has not done this themselves.

does this have 16 channels of midi yet?
It has 4 tracks. For each of the track one can freely choose the MIDI channel 1-16.
