Lyra VR – A Virtual Reality Music Sequencer

Jean Marais (MoShang) let us know about a new project, Lyra VR, that combines music sequencing with virtual reality.

Lyra is described as ‘a playground for musicians to experiment in, without real world limitations’.

Hardware Requirements

  • Oculus Rift DK2
  • Leap Motion
  • NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 or greater
  • Intel i5-4590 or greater
  • 8GB+ RAM
  • Headphones are not required but they drastically improve the experience!

Software Requirements

  • Oculus Runtime 0.7+
  • Leap Motion 2.3.1+

  1. rather than all of this crap – why not just make a 3d daw that you can view and manipulate layers/tracks/envelopes/instruments intuitively ind use the xyz axis for something that makes more sense like parameter control instead of random blobs and shapes to sequence?

  2. I can see a huge potential here, just thinking about sitting in a vastly psychedelic 3d enviroment with a full studio of virtual gear that i can smack and tickle overwhelms me.
