One Man Synth Band Synth Jam

Sunday Synth Jam: This video, via Burg (Jouni Ollila), captures a one-man synth band synth jam, Desolate Planets.

Ollila says “This is a song about emptiness in our hearts, and being far away from friends — a laid back downtempo tune.”

Gear Used:

Studio 601 synthesizer prototype, Roland Boutique JX03, Nord Lead A1, ms-20, microbrute, KORG volca sample, bass and keys, TR-8, TB-3, System-1 and the elektron analog four.

FX used: Zoom MS70 CDR, solid gold FX electroman, kaoss pad, strymon timeline, mooer reecho, jomox t-resonator

    Out of curiosity what’s that bit of gear you got controlling the main sequence in the top left? It has a little screen showing a waveform.

  2. WOW, the amount of time and effort. I mean at no point did that get stale, which was impressive because I’ve seen people put tremendous amounts of time into something like this and not get results. It sounded “live,” like he was playing it.

    1. Nothing magic with the drums, just using the TR-8 and its internal pattern sequencer. Also, there is some added percussion using the volca sample synched with the rest of the gear. Could not be more vanilla than that. cheers !
