  1. Hi Synthtopia

The name of the App is not Auria Pro 2 but only Auria Pro 😉
The first version of Auria called Auria but this one is a complete new app but can be upgrade inside the old app. New Users can download the entire new Auria Pro App

    Cheers

    1. Tom – it’s v2 of Auria Pro. We routinely refer to the ‘v2’ release of an app as ‘app 2’.

Sorry if there’s any confusion – I modified the article to read ‘v2’ to make this a little more clear.

      1. @synthhead I get what you’re saying but it’s not really v2. The way they did it is confusing.

There’s the original Auria (still available) that was upgraded to v2 today. That v2 upgrade includes the new skin and bug fixes. Only.

Then there’s Auria Pro. It’s a brand new app on the app store (along side Auria). Auria Pro is available to users of Auria as in IAP for $40.

In order to see the Auria Pro IAP, you need to upgrade your current version of Auria to V2 (free update).

          1. Tom and Will had it correct. The Dev was very clear about it on the audiobus forums that Auria Pro does not equal Auria 2. According to Rim (the Dev) it’s an entirely different DAW that he could have just as easily named something entirely different. Couldn’t possibly be Auria Pro 2 either, as there was never an Auria Pro 1 until now…

            1. One need only click on the link to Auria Pro above and look at the version that clearly says “2.0”. But yea, it does seem confusing either way.

  2. This is an amazing accomplishment, especially considering it’s made by one guy (well, except all the 3rd party stuff). It sickens me to see people doggin, harassing and insulting the dev that worked his ass off for 3 years for this to happen. Simply because it was a few bucks more expensive then they thought. A few bucks. These people would die if they had a desktop DAW. It’s a minority, but a very vocal one (on the Auria forum and Audiobus forum, not here…yet). Sickening.

Anyway, on the subject, this really did live up to the enormous hype. Amazing to have all this on a tablet.

    1. I wondered about pricing for Protools in 2010:

“Native core: $3495 buys you the necessary PCIe native card plus Pro Tools HD 8.5 software. The card comes with two Digilink mini ports on it.
Native core + OMNI Add an HD OMNI interface to the above. Total: US$5995.
      Native core + HD I/O 8x8x8 Get a full 8x8x8 HD I/O interface. Total cost: US$6995.
      Native core + HD I/O 16×16 analog US$7995.
      Availability: November 4.

Ok, its not the same as Auria or Auria Pro, but it does give a bit of perspective on cost/value

In my opinion, a good song with good performers, well recorded in a good home studio centred on Auria, and your good ears, will certainly be more appreciated than many professional studio productions using Protools.

Pity the final step is between the recording and the final user’s ears, which often means poor quality earbuds.

Auria/Auria Pro are probably too good 😉

    2. Well whats really happening is that youre paying $40.00 to open Auria Pro features in the original Auria, so on top of the $50 most ( those who didnt buy it on sale ) it kinda feels like youre paying $70.00 for Auria Pro, when in fact you arent really buying Auria Pro, or not as far as Apple is concerned, and when you consider people who invested more in plugins than the app itself, the $10 discount doesnt feel like a big discount. In the end I didnt bother going the upgrade route, I just bought Auria Pro, which I glad i did because theres some bugs in Auria Pro that needs to be worked out, and having the regular version beside it is nice to fall back on when I record something that doesnt call for midi sequencing.

    1. Problem solved. I think it was an odd apple thing. Please, anyone who is hesitant… don’t be! Upgrade and never look back. While I would prefer less skuomorphs on an iPad app, Auria Pro really is an astounding piece of mobile software, and I’m delighted and grateful to have it.

FWIW, in case others run into the same issue: Bought the in app upgrade. Nothing happened. I had hit “restore purchases” a few times throughout the day, and nothing happened. The upgrade area was also empty, not listing it as applied or even available. I also tried a complete hard restart of the iPad. But this morning I opened the app and the Pro features were available. Ok.. whatever… just glad it worked. 🙂 Also, FWIW, looking at my Apple purchase history, nothing is listed after December 1st. Probably they are getting hammered because of the holidays and things are running slower.
