Elektron today introduced the Audio/CV Split Cable Kit, a multi-purpose cable and connector solution that’s designed to expand your connectivity options.
Here are some example scenarios:
- Analog Rytm users wanting to connect the dual mono separate voice out

Are there cheaper options out there for this?
not sure, the way i have it on my A4 is: one stereo splitter cable (1/4) to two mono (1/4); then, for each of these 1/4 mono, a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter (only come in stereo i think but that will work); then a female (1/8) to male (1/8) – you can also find headphones split cables, this way doubling CV modulation.
as you can see, it’s rather complicated and not that cheaper either (on the way i also bought 2 adapters that didn’t work, so that’s 10 euros i’ll never see again:), so my only gripe is they should have come out with this earlier, as most of the current A4 owners already crafted themselves a solution. will serve the new ones i guess.
another sleek option is this module: http://www.thomann.de/gb/doepfer_a_181_multiples_2.htm?ref=prod_rel_315603_7 the upper jack duplicates a mono signal, but apparently is really easy to mod it to serve as a stereo splitter – as the one below. oh, and it’s passive also so it doesn’t need any electricity.
yes its called insert cable, at least thats what i use with my analog four.
its one stereo plug to two mono plugs.
i use one stereo (cvA cvB) out for gate/pitch of the minitaur, one cv line (cvC) for the moog dist. pedal, and one cv (cvD) for the moog delay.
they all use the bigger plugs so no adapters needed.
and i dont waste any midi 🙂

if you own a Elektron , spending $25 is not really a problem
Splitter, 2 cables and 1 of those headphone adapterey-things. Not 5. It’s not a terrible price, if you absolutely have to have all those parts. For the first three use cases, you could just use a tip/ring y-splitter, which would be cheaper. The only instance this makes sense to me is if you own a lot of E-boxes and need to occasionally switch between all those uses, otherwise you’d want to get a cheaper splitter with appropriate 1/4 or 1/8 jacks.
If you wanted to break out ALL the individual outs on a rytm, you’re looking at $125, and adding a lot of wasteful bulk at that, which just seems silly.
If MOOG did the same for 55$, the same guys would have called this “AWESOME” … -.-
$25 is not expensive for small cables. Consult any deal of Monster, Mogami, or countless other high-end manufacturers. Whether you want to pay that much is a different question, and often cheap adapters are fine, but I know that if I design a large part of my sound around a single adapter, I’m not going to want that $5 Radio Shack or Hosa routing all my sound. If this does what you need, buy it.
why ? buy an insert cable and two adapter in good quality and youre on the same price?!
what i dont like: its another box on my table that takes space.
also the cable has a fixed lenght,, and no angled plugs on the a4 side.
that makes it unusable for me.
Would have bought, if the had made all 4 jacks 3.5mm. Need it for Euro.
That would have made more sense. I guess I paid more than 25 for those splitter cables for euro.
I think the idea is you can connect the 1/4in jacks with the cables provided (they do seem to be a reasonable length, though none is quoted), and use two 3.5mm cables of your own.
Really useful; and actually cheaper than other solution so the market/ebay.
Currently the only piece of electron gear I can afford…
They’ve needed to offer a easy solution for A4/AK CV breakout since they introduced the boxes. People on Elektronauts are constantly asking how to connect thes to the CV inputs of their other devices and muliple people offer third party converter cables and even a box similar to this one.
Too bad that it seems like you need to order two of these boxes to connect both CV ports.
i think the best option if you wanna use them with modular gear, is to make a small module where you plug in a 1/4″ stereo in and get two modular patchchords out.
anyone can solder that in 30min, and its the cleanest solution.
I reckon that’s a completely reasonable price. Would be cool if they came in the box from now on though.
