Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 Synthesizer Sound Demo

This video, via Bonedo, captures an audio demo of the new Tom Oberheim & Dave Smith synth collaboration, the OB-6 synthesizer.

The Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 is a 6-voice synth, with a sound engine inspired by Oberheim’s original SEM (the core of his acclaimed 4-voice and 8-voice synthesizers). 

Pricing and Availability

The OB-6 is manufactured and sold by Dave Smith Instruments. It will be available in March, with a US MAP of $2,999. See DSI’s site for details.

  1. Damn Dave Smith! He’s killing me!!! Every year he releases something even cooler then the last year. I want to buy this sooooooooooo bad but I can’t justify the expense right now. Awesome 1st world problem to have though. Whoever gets this is going to have Lots of fun, that’s forsure!

  2. OSCs and filter sounds great.
    Wish it did have a few more modulation options, specifically a second LFO, LFO delay and modulation of OSC waveform like the Phatty & Voyager have.

    A DSI with the analogues of the OB or Prophet 6 with the modulation of the 12 would be killer.

  3. So reminiscent of my Matrix 6r including paint job, but too expensive. Will stick with that or marry it with Matrix 1000 for more affordable polyphony, lfo, etc.
