AudioThing has introduced Latin Percussion, a sample-based plugin emulation of the Sound Master Latin Percussion, a rare analog drum machine from the 80’s.
The instrument features 6 classic latin sounds: Bass, Low Conga, High Conga, Bongo, Claves, and Maracas, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. You can additionally shape the sound with the Overdrive and Reverb.

Audio Thing has nailed this one. The sounds are classics. The UI gives you easy access to all the obvious parameters and it is very clear right away.
Before watching the video, I was thinking “What does this do that the DM-1 can’t?” The answer is that the sequencer can actually play triplet meters correctly (e.g., 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, etc.) The DM-1 doesn’t clock ternary rhythms right. With this Latin Percussion VI, when you flip over to a triplet clock ratio, the rate changes as it should.
The DM-1 is stuck with 4 steps per beat no matter what “meter” you select. I’ve reported it to the developer several times, but it always gets ignored.
I think $30 is a good price for this, if these are the tones you need. I kinda wish they had a few more samples you could pop into those slots, but that could get out of hand, I guess.
ya but with “MIDI drag to daw” you can capture the sequencer’s phrases to trigger other drum machines, synths etc

I’m a sucker for things like this and have also been putting off getting AudioThing’s Vinyl Strip plug thus far .. now that I’ve seen / heard Latin Percussion in conjunction with Vinyl Strip my GAS is through the dang roof. Well done AudioThing!
