This video, via yoshimichi setsuda, captures a vintage promo for Tangerine Dream, from 1975.

The short clip features the classic lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann,

“What we’ve done is only the first little step of a big development,” notes Froese.

  1. I still get goosebumps when I think of the first time I heard TD. It was 1979 and John Peel played Cloudburst Flight on his show. I went out and bought Force Majeure straight away – followed by Phaedra, Rubycon, Ricochet, Encore, Sorcerer and my all time favourite – Stratosfear. Its hard to articulate the impact they had on me – other than to say I had a Korg MS20/MS10/SQ10 within two years aged 19. I loved the Froese/Franke/Baumann lineup as well as Schmoellings time as he added some real heart. It all started to fall apart after that for me – but I continued to collect to this day. TD gave me so much and set the course of my artistic life.

  2. TD is one of the main reasons I got into electronic music… yeh the best stuff still gives me goosebumps too, its quite literally a “magical” feeling

also, the Doctor Who theme from the early 80s, when I was a wee lad – same deal..
