Jean-Michel Jarre + Edward Snowden – ‘Exit’

Synthesist Jean-Michel Jarre shared the music video, embedded above, for Exit, his collaboration with the controversial whistleblower and privacy advocate Edward Snowden.

Exit comes from Jarre’s Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise, an album features a wide variety of collaborations. In addition to the collaboration with Snowden, the album features Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan, Hans Zimmer, Peaches, Sebastien Teller, The Orb, Yello, Jeff Mills, Cynci Lauper and others.

Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise is available via iTunes and Amazon.

  1. …haha the video is (officially) not available in Germany, because the GEMA ( a kind of music and television authority) is not sure about the usage of this content…sic.

  2. I am not a massive fan. I’ve always liked the classic tracks. But I liked the last album and this track is IMO excellent. I look forward to hearing the new album.

  3. It’s always easy to be overcritical when it comes to music videos, but I’m genuinely puzzled by how the cuts in this frenetic and (to be charitable) retro styled video seem only rarely to sync with the music. But then the speech and the music haven’t been integrated much either and that’s also somewhat jarring (no pun intended).

  4. I’ve always had the greatest respect for Jarre and believe he’s had an incredible influence on electronic music throughout the decades. However, I find his latest work to be quite stale and stuck in the past. Some musicians have constantly reinvented their sounds and explored new ways of expressing music, but sadly Jarre has not moved on from the 80s. Maybe he’s comfortable there, who knows.. but I half expected Snowden to come out with something like n-n-n-n-n-nineteen at some point during that video.
