How To Repair Dead Keys On Synthesizers & Electric Organs

In his latest video, Markus Fuller takes a look at how to repair dead keys on synthesizers and organs.

In the video, Fuller fixes two sets of dead keys on a ORLA keyboard organ. He notes, though, that the same general approach works with many brands of keyboards.

Do you have your own experiences fixing dead keys on a keyboard? If so, let us know in the comments what worked – or didn’t work – for you.

  1. I wish could say that I’ve never had to do this sort of repair work, but it seems to be getting more and more common on my old synths.

    Great video, as always.

  2. Good on you fella. I like your videos and it is interesting to learn about the technical side of equipment that’s under the bonnet.

  3. Very useful. I was wondering if the alcohol might have done the job without the eraser. Hard to say. In any case, it’s good to see all that work out successfully in the end.

I used a paper clip to push in the silicon strips when I did the repair way back when.
