Daft Punk – ‘Get Lucky’ Cover

Sunday Synth Jam: Reader Miguel Fernandes, aka starshipfive, shared this live cover of Daft Punk‘s Get Lucky.

Fernandes says that he wasn’t trying to recreate the original, but to create an original arrangement that had more of an electronic feel.

Here’s what he has to say about the performance:

Music created with synthesizers is a great passion to me. Sometimes i try to recreate themes from the Masters like Kraftwerk, Jan Hammer, Jean Michel Jarre and also 80’s themes.

This time I tried to recreate a more recent theme from Daft Punk, the “Get Lucky” Theme, but give to the music an more electronic approach that is different from the original theme, using vocoder, and a overall electro style type like some other old themes from Daft punk.

  1. awesome id like to add a awesome beat programmer/live drummer to this guy
to mash up the beats but thats just me

  2. if it wasn’t Daft Punk who made the song originally the “get lucky” would mean something else
(like got lucky it was a hit)

Also doesn’t it seam strange that getting it , is refereed to “get lucky” as a term (that is for a guy to get a gal to have fun with if you know what i mean)

    1. I’m not sure I do, Bill. Are you talking about the fun you have when your best gal accompanies you to the church social or a barn dance?

      1. for some it is getting a gal just to say high even at a church social.
there has been some comedy shows on that

    2. “Also doesn’t it seam strange that getting it , is refereed to “get lucky” as a term (that is for a guy to get a gal to have fun with if you know what i mean)”

The song title is a reference to this, so what?

  3. i like to say ” i would be thrilled just to have a gal talk dirty to me, opps my bad they have talked dirty to me but it something that is physically impossible to do”

just my take on social media and its pit falls

oh yeah , daft punk rules

  4. Very solid cover! was the percussion recorded specifically for the entirety of the track, or was it being looped? and was it samples (i think it’s sp-404?) or did you have a drum machine hiding somewhere in there?

    1. Hi

Thanks for your comment! Tha back sequence was done on Cubase 5 and then audio mixdown to SP-404. For Percussion i used Halion VST and Groove Agent VST and was done for the entire track.
Sometimes i use VST or i use Hardware for creating the Sequence. In some Covers i use TR-606. Depends the sound i’m trying to recreate.

      Best regards
