Free Sample Library Inspired By Classic Radiophonic Sounds

radiophonic-soundsReader Stuart Kilbride (Red Sky Lullaby) let us know about a free sample library that he’s released, via 99Sounds, that’s inspired by the classic work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Radiophonic Atmospheres is a free, royalty-free sound collection. The library contains 99 audio samples and loops in total, sorted into three categories (Ambient Atmospheres, Outer Atmospheres and Rhythmic Atmospheres).

The first two folders feature a collection of drones, background textures and atmospheres with a strong experimental vibe. The third folder features a set of riffs and analog sequences.

All sounds are provided in 24-bit WAV format and are ready for use in your sampler of choice. All included loops are BPM labeled. No additional patches are provided.

Radiophonic Atmospheres is a free download from the 99Sounds site. Note that it is delivered as a .rar compressed archive, so you will need a .rar decompression app to open it.

  1. Normally these free libraries get a quick check then off to the trash. Listened to about a dozen of the ambience samples, and they are quite lovely.
