  1. In order to run the demo, you will need an iLok2.

Lost a potential sale for me – I have an iLok 1 one and I don’t feel like paying for a new one (just because ilok got hacked!)

  2. Yea, I don’t have any iLok plugs yet. That always seemed like a cumbersome way to authorize.

Their choice of demonstration track (Dark Zombie Night) is kind of funny. Using a quirky, decidedly-not-slick track shows some desire to welcome the “outsider” to the party. That’s ok.
    Here are some standard/slick examples:

I’m not so excited by the actual rhythm values concept. Seems to bloat the presets– and I’d just dial that in on-the-fly. No need to have a reverb UI tell me how to predelay an 1/4-note-triplet or whatever– that’s easy to hear. They seem to have taken on some of the audio-pre-processing into the plug-in itself (compression/EQ). That’s ok but then I have compressors and EQ’s I can add.

  3. this is maybe the finest and most flexible reverb plugin out there. ilok2 works like a charm, need it for soundtoys anyway.

  4. So Nimbus is Phoenix with some standard production tricks added the reverb.
This is ok but does not cover all bases, for example although you can suppress
reverb while playing and let the tail play when not playing, the opposite is not
possible (for an abrupt reverb tail stop effect). And ducking the reverb tale by side chaining to
anything other than the signal source (eg ducking a different track) is not possible either.

I guess it is all good in an underwhelming way but I am disappointed that Phoenix
owners have to pay $99 for this upgrade.

  5. Looks cool but It doesn’t matter because dongles suck and I refuse to use them. There has got to be a better way to provide copy protection
