Synthesis Technology E350 Morphing Terrarium Wavetable Oscillator Hands-On Demo

This video, via Future Music Magazine, takes a hands-on look at the Synthesis Technology E350 Morphing Terrarium wavetable oscillator.

The Morphing Terrarium is a unique wavetable VCO with two independent waveform outputs. What sets the E350 apart from previous wavetable oscillators is voltage-controlled morphing. The E350 automatically blends between various wavetables, creating 128 “in-between” waveforms. This expands the 192 basic wavetable waveforms to over 24,000 individual timbres.

But it’s also a powerful LFO, thanks to a range-selector switch. At the lowest setting, the E350 will cycle once every 13 minutes and be repeatable within 20?sec. The Sync signal can be used to reset both outputs to zero (hard sync).

The C bank of waveforms are specifically designed to be used in LFO settings (though they work in audio range, too). The LFO waveshapes include everything from ‘chirps,’ to sequences of individual notes, to noise gates, to sample & hold effects, to exponential/logarithmic sweeps.

Pricing and Availability

The E350 is available now for US $$389. See the Synth Tech site for details.

  1. The E350 is one of the modules that I grabbed early on, and I’ve never wanted to part with it. Fantastic sound, always rewarding to use.
