Cyclone Analogic TT-303 MKII Hands-On Demo

This video, via djthomaswhite, is a hands-on demo of the Cyclone Analogic TT-303 MKII – a Roland TB-303 bassline synth clone.

The Cyclone Analogic Mark 2 TT-303 is an updated version of the Bass Bot, which has been available for a few years. The new version features a new enclosure and enhanced sequencing.

White demos the TT-303 in combination with the TT-606 drum machine. Here’s what he has to say about the updated bassline synth:

The acid tones are really nice in this analog bass machine, and you will certainly satisfy your acid cravings with this family of machines.

The new Bass Bot includes new features named “Mute” and “Hammer” which can also be described as “shorter gate” and “sustain of sorts” with both of them being great for performance, but also being available to program in sequences like DUAS (Down, Up, Accent, Slide).

The built-in Shuffle feature is quite well done, and having swung out acid bass is not something you commonly hear or that the original TB-303 from Roland was capable of.

I love it, slick polished case and all. Maybe it’s not for you, but if you’re curious take the leap. It’s a solid piece of analog kit.

Pricing and Availability:

The Cyclone Analogic TT-303 MKII is available for 449 €.

If you’ve used the Bass Bot, leave a comment and share your thoughts on it!

  1. for the love of Bod can we get over the 303, how many hardware / software clones do we need… create something original for once.

    1. Someone always has to say this as if these clones are taking the place of other synths. Quit complaining, we’re in a golden age and there is something for everyone.

    2. I don’t have a huge problem with the idea of creating a 303 inspired (like the volca bass that I really like as a stright lead synth) or something with the 303 circuit but I would rather see people get inventive and extend the functionality/add effects(like grain and crushing!)/add crazy sequencing, polyphony or something to make it more exciting.

    3. The problem is that far fewer people buy original boutique hardware than will buy a 303 remake. The 101/202/303/606/808/909 machines have a certain cachet and reputation.

It’s frustrating, but music technology has always been about fashion. It doesn’t always make sense.

    4. for the love of Bod… stop whinging! The more the better. They certainly piss all over Roland’s pathetic offerings from 2016

    5. I feel the same about guitar really… Every possible permeation of tone, sound, chord , scale, note and style of that stringed instrument that refuses to gracefully take it’s place in history has been played and played out.

  2. Just want to say that I’ve owned an original, a xoxbox, I have the dinsync.info Euro rack modules,,, and I bought and immediately sold my aira units. This cyclone stuff is top notch,, you have to be in the room, not comparing youtube videos, to not only hear but feel the difference! Hands down the best clone so far, price points aside. When you factor in the price, it’s a no brainer. Acid house will never die completely, it’s a staple, as mainstay… I’m also a long time natural rhythm fan, vinyl collector, and I’ve seen dj Thomas white spin at smart bar,, he’s a great dj and producer, and I love his youtube channel,, props from chi town, the birthplace of acid house!!!

  3. I love that the 303/acid sound is becoming something like its own instrument. We now have all these options of tones and characters of the original idea.

  4. Is this analog? I seemed to miss that. I’ve also got a number of Natural Rhythm records over the years and they still sound amazing! Props for sure.

  5. shame they didnt continue with the original Cyclone / Roland box design that made it more authentic. If Roland really did tell them to stop producing the box shape, but then still have no plans to actually make an analog 303 or 606 again themselves, just telling them to stop making it “out of selfishness” then SHAME ON YOU ROLAND. Unfortunately this new one looks like a can of tinned sardines with knobs on.

  6. hopefully they have made a better resonance in this one. i gave my last tt back because i was not happy with the resonance.

  7. Hope they also improve their customer service. cause it’s like none existing at all. emailed them a few times – no reply at all. it thought they were dead, until this news here came in…

  8. 450 euros. Let`s be honest. A bit expensive no matter how you try to justify it. Even if they give you a pack of Havana cigars with it it`s overpriced. The price is based on the hype. This inspired me to buy a Togu Tal Bassline 101. I know “it`s software and bla bla bla” but it really nails the Roland sound. These clones are a bit like “oh you need 303 drug? i get you good drug! cheaper than original drug!”

  9. It would be nice if Cyclone Analogic fixed their buggy software for updating the firmware on the original Bass-Bot. I tried about 8 or 9 different MIDI interfaces and no luck with the update.
Also they never seem to answer any emails when contacting support.
