New FM Synth For iOS, Mac & Windows, ‘Baervaag’

Klevgränd Produktion has introduced Baervaag, an FM synthesizer for iOS, Mac & Windows.

Baervaag is designed to be a simple and easy-to-use FM synthesizer, avoiding much of the complexity traditionally associated with FM synths. It features one carrier and one modulator. The oscillator waveforms can be modified seamlessly between sine wave to pure square wave with PWM (pulse width modulation).

Here’s the official video intro:

Features:

  • FM Feedback, Filter, ADSR Attack and Volume can be modulated by velocity.
  • Oscillators can be shaped between sine, square and PWM.
  • One ADSR for each oscillator.
  • Controllable wobble factor that adds ‘analogue unpredictability’.
  • 50+ presets

Pricing and Availability:

Baervaag is available now with an introductory price of US $4.99 for iOS and $12.99 for desktop (regularly $7.99 and $19.99).

  1. nice sounds. simplicity is a plus. do not like the graphics, not very practical imho. wanted to buy anyway. but missing MIDI is a dealbreaker for me.

    1. They’ve basically stated that they’re done with implementing midi, Audiobus, iaa, etc. there are hosts that handle all that stuff for you where you can host these apps.

I think it makes sense. There are a gajillion desktop plugins that do not run stand alone and require a host to provide midi, audio, sync…

  2. I really like the Klevgrand interfaces, actually. I wonder if they have taken the whole minimal “one instrument/one sound” concept to its logical conclusion now, though. Great developer, I would love to see something bigger, more ambitious from them. With sampling.

  3. A 1op FM synth isn’t an FM synth… it’s a single FM oscillator. No MIDI, no audiobuss, no iaa – is this a joke. The DXi is 1.99e and as mentioned Dexed is free. Trying to associate this objectively poor product with Joe Zaniwul is just offensive. Please don’t remove my comment synthhead – this is legitimate criticism not hyperbole.

  4. Please do not remove my comments too, its peaceful criticism. Neither Am I any competitor but this is not FM at all, I am sad that developers use marketing tricks to impress customers. Pre recorded sampled sounds inside, and a nice interface to just call these samples and edit them like many of these vsts or softsynths.. A real fm synth need at least 24 to 32 algorithms, nit fake algos like the tf7,another fake fm synth which deceived me a lot, real fm synthesizers needs at least 4 or better 6 operators and all edit parameters. Usually sweden creates the best synths, soft or hardware, And I am a big fan of swedish synths I really do not understand what happened here . The fm8 or dexed are closer to real fm synths.
