  1. Seems very cool but there are still lots of un-answered questions. Need to see a video of someone actually using the thing to get a sense of the workflow. Excited to see how the sampling works.

    1. The price seems a little steep but the only comparison I can think of in terms of sequencing inside a little box is the Pyramid Squarp which is around the 700 EUR mark.

  2. so 600$ turns out to be almost 800 euros. that’s quite a difference. i have an a4 for which i paid 1100 euros new and it’s the one thing that will stay with me forever, but i’m glad i went in another direction with the drums + sequencing while waiting for this. i’ll probably still get a second hand one, but i’m disappointed in the price difference from the announcement to the (not quite!) release.

    1. $679 is about 770 euros once you add ~20% VAT. I wish the price was a little lower, because this is well out of impulse buy territory for me.

  3. FINALLY!!! Teased the hell out of it then just showed us a non-working prototype. Jeez. Maybe they are unaware that the MPC is dropping and dont know that they will potentially be competing so keeping such a vague marketing scheme will only send people towards the MPC with no money left over to dive into this since you have no idea what it does and probably wont get a video until the MPC releases. I guess, different audience. And the Toriaz is garbage so meh. Maybe they know what they are doing.

    1. The Toraiz is awesome. I have one. Workflow is intuitive. Sounds great. Never had any trouble with bugs in the firmware. The DSI filters and drive are a great tool to have on board.

    1. I don’t disagree but just so it’s clear, the 64 MB limit is per project, I believe. The total internal memory is 1GB.

      1. You always work on one project. Elektron style… and thats why 64mb are miserable… If you never worked with elektron you not understand. and by the way they told us that the digitakt would be 600$ (ca 500 euro) and now take a look at thomann nearly 800 euro…

    1. Funny how Overbridge is has become the staple of their products. I’ve had multiple Elektron gear for a while now and finally thought to dive into Overbridge and womp, womp. Most DAW’s are a pain in the ass to set up besides Ableton. My Analog heat working as a plugin has the worst lag ever and I’m not working on any junk computer. 16GB Ram, i7, the works. I’m producing 3d Models/Renders and Motion Graphics at the speed of light but im like a few milliseconds behind on sending audio in and out of overbridge to the Analog Heat.
You make a super menu-driven piece of hardware thats spectacular, then give the ability to attach to software, yet im still dragging samples to my analog rytm like a slave, and you give me 64MB of memory on a 700 box thats half a sampler and half a midi sequencer.

That you for your time. Rant complete and I bet you the digitakt is awesome. Only then will I put my foot in my mouth.

      1. and overbridge uses so much cpu nobody talks about that… i work with i7 xeon 990 extreme (2000$ cpu) nearly 10% usage with one instance of overbridge…

    2. Didn’t even see this. Absolute bollocks. What’s wrong with you Elektron? Enabling PREMIUM overbridge is worth zero, you alreadyvdeveloped it for this machine. It’s just greediness.

        1. After the Octatrack I’d say that careful consideration is needed for these machines. I got my Machinedrum after and realised it was way better workflow wise. The Octatrack offers alot, but it seems they cram so much in to their machines they become a little unwieldy. Forget about the software, how about making something we can actually use?

          1. Using first Rytm and then Machinedrum reveals you how backwards Rytm project structure is. On MD it’s great how easily you can change whole kits and/or individual devices.

            1. Yeah, that’s kind of crazy. It’s kind of a shame too, because they’re so powerful but lack that elegance in usability. I am happy with the Octatrack though, I know how to use most of it. One thing we miss out on are Trig Conditions. That’s the one thing that could’ve brought me to the Digitakt, but I’m not convinced it’s worth it overall.

  4. Owning an A4 and Rytm that have badly needed MIDI sequencing all along I find it a bit irritating that they take the sequencer from those products, enable MIDI, attach it to a seriously basic sampler and charge almost $700 for it.

    1. Somehow I have a feeling that Rytm is now somewhat abandoned. They really should have added external midi sequencing to it at least. Also, 1998 called and they want their sample transfer method back.

  5. yeah i would say the most powerful thing they could do right now is get Mr. Dataline to record a video using it. we just need to see what’s going on with this thing. teasing goes past a point of excitement and becomes aggravating. oh well, it know it’s gonna be cool but i’ll wait to see / hear it more in depth.

  6. re sequencer: one can record 4 notes per step. not bad. questions: can i import my 24 bit .wav loops into this thing? does it recognize acid .wav files? does it have an auto-sync function (like both the mc-909 and mc-808 have) in order to play non-acid .wav loops in the tempo of the internal sequencer?

  7. Im excited to see more. The term “sampling capability” seems strange to me. Like it’s possible, but also not that great.

    1. I know what you mean. It`s like if i would hit on a girl and tell her as a description of me ” i come….with reproduction ability, using onboard equipment only. Real stand-alone shiat!”

  8. 770€ according to the site. way overpriced for the on-paper specs.
how this $->€ conversion is working i´ve no idea.

        1. Conversations and Opinions. The reason we all have brains. “I like this or that gear, I dont like this or that gear”. Harmless.

  9. Elektron listens to the people and put out something more affordable than they have in the past. They give it onboard sampling, digital drum synth engines, AND it can sequence other gear. The result? People bitch and crib like victims of horrible plot against them! lol

  10. I saw that they are selling the full version of overbridge right now
I have an A4 since it was released, will I be forced to pay for overbridge future updates?

  11. Drum computer really sounds like it has a synth engine. Opinions seem to be split on whether or not this is true. Another ambiguity. Im still excited for it. I’m always interested in new creative workflow. Especially from Elektron. I didn’t have the money to pick up the digital boxes when they were discontinued, and still regret not buying them. Maybe a full featured digital box is around the corner.

    1. A drum computer really should be a machine with several built in synth engines – each for each drum sound.
I think it was a really smart move from Teenage Engineering to make a drummachine based on Microtonic software drummachine – my personal favorite among all the analog gear.

  12. An interesting option as the Rytm was pretty over a lot of people’s budget (including mine). Will be eager to see some more videos and for Nick to have a bash before making any rash opinions or decisions.
