Zynaptiq Wormhole Specializes In ‘Otherworldly’ Sounds

Zynaptiq has released Wormhole – described as an ‘otherworldly multi-effects processor’.

Here’s what they have to say about Wormhole:

From beautifully shimmering detuned guitar widening and glassy ambient octave-shift tails, to surreal ambiences, starship drones, alien, monster, and robot voices — WORMHOLE is our new indispensable multi-effects powerhouse for sound designers, music producers and film composers alike. Combining ultra-clean pitch/frequency shifting, eccentric spectral warping, dual lush reverbs, and unique structural dry/wet morphing, WORMHOLE delivers sounds so unearthly you’ll swear they’re from a parallel universe.

Features:

  • SHIFT: unique topology combined pitch-/frequency-shifting module with SMOOTH, TIGHT, and two DETUNE modes – and a distinct, pristine sound.
  • WARP spectral inversion & warping module.
  • Dual lush randomized hall reverbs.
  • Unique Dry/Wet Morphing.
  • Ultra-wide +- 4 octaves pitch-shift and +-4000Hz frequency shift range, fully aliasing free, with near-perfect carrier and side-band attenuation.

Wormhole supports common sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz depending on available CPU resources, mono-in-stereo-out and stereo-stereo operation, as AAX native, AU, RTAS, VST 2.4 and VST 3, on Mac & Windows.

Pricing and Availability

Wormhole is available now from the Zynaptiq website and authorized resellers worldwide, individually as well as as part of the ZAP II and DESIGN bundles. From April 2nd to April 30th, 2017, an introductory price of USD $149 / EUR 169 is available (normally $179/EUR 199).

  1. That has to be about the stupidest promo video I have seen in a while. Two and a half minutes of nothing, and no reason to even consider purchasing whatever it is.

  2. This promo aside, it is easy to find demos on YT. Just watched a few and I can totally use this in my sound design. It’s worth the $$$ to add to my arsenal of sound mangling creating goodies.

  3. I personally like this kind of thing, and I don’t want to discourage any developers out there, but – I’ve got all kinds of iPad gadgets (apeDelay, etc) that produce similar kinds of sounds for a lot less that $150. *sigh* I feel bad bringing it up, even. And I may be a minority – it’s just that of late I’m a lot less inclined to spend much money for this sort of thing. On the positive side, I respect the people out there who continue to explore the boundaries and look for the new and unusual in sound design.
