GarageBand Now A Free Download For All Mac Users

Apple has updated several of its Mac and iOS apps – including GarageBand, iMovie and iWork apps – making them available as free downloads for all Mac and iOS users.

The apps previously had been free with new Mac purchases. The changes makes them available for free for all Mac users running compatible versions of iOS/OS X.

Here are software version requirements needed:

  • iWork Mac: macOS 10.12 or later
  • iWork iOS: iOS 10.0 or later
  • iMovie Mac: macOS 10.11.2 or later
  • iMovie iOS: iOS 9.3 or later
  • GarageBand Mac: macOS 10.10 or later
  • GarageBand iOS: iOS 10.2 or later

  1. I’d like apple to make a Mac that can cope with their new apps after5 years, so that I don’t need to buy a new Mac to go with the new app they are giving away

  2. Usually if apple gives something away for free it’s because either:

    – They don’t care about it anymore, and development will get cancelled after a couple years of stagnation, or
    – They are about to announce a super expensive and shitty cloud service for your “free” app
