Electric Sexy Drum Pants Are Go

Composer/media artist Kaoru Fukushima (aka kaoringMachine) has launched a Kickstarter to fund production of the Banggos Electric Sexy Drum Pants.

“I’m bringing music down under!” notes Fukushima. “Let’s bring a new definition to the word ‘musical instrument’.”

Banggos is a wearable MIDI controller, combining touch control, WiFi + MIDI. What makes it unique, though, is the device’s crotch-centered design:

Tapping the crotch transmits a MIDI note message wirelessly to your mobile device or laptop. Expression is limited, though, by a fixed velocity of 127.

Here’s the official Banggos intro video:

Pricing and Availability

Production of the Banggos is being funded via a Kickstarter project, with the device available to backers starting at US $79.

    1. Laugh if you like, but you’re probably not their target audience – beatmakers that want to bang one out on the go.

  1. difficult to imagine a use case while wearing business casual like the dude in the promotional images.
but i’m just imagining a freaking (the dance) session with these. that could actually be cool. proper reggaeton PA.

  2. Always nice to see new hardware but are they making a plugin version? (Thanks, I’ll be here all week, try the lobster!)
