Novation Circuit Mono Station Analog Synthesizer Now Available

Novation let us know that their new Circuit Mono Station is now available for sale in-store and online.

The new monosynth builds on the 32 velocity-sensitive RGB pads found on Circuit, with a paraphonic analog synthesizer that originates from the Bass Station II, plus three sequencer tracks that benefit from the 32 velocity-sensitive RGB pads found on Circuit.

Features:

  • The Mono Station features two oscillators that can be individually controlled, three distortion modes, plus a multi-mode filter with high-pass, low-pass or band-pass. The sync and tuning parameters of its two oscillators can be individually controlled. The synth offer four waveshapes (sawtooth, triangle, square and sample + hold), a sub-oscillator, ring modulation and noise generation.
  • The output of the oscillators can be modified with a high-pass, low-pass and band-pass filter, with slopes of 12dB or 24dB. In addition, a powerful overdrive circuit is also available.
  • The Mono Station can be used in either monophonic and paraphonic modes. In paraphonic mode, each oscillator can be individually controlled by its own sequencer.
  • There are three sequencer tracks: two oscillator sequencers and one modulation sequencer. Users can alter Gate length, switch patterns instantly, choose sync rate and mutate patterns.
  • A four-by-eight modulation matrix makes it possible to route from LFO with the four waveshapes, envelope, sequencer or velocity, enabling complex modulation for pitch, pulse-width, amp, filter, distortion or CV. Up to 64 patches can be loaded and saved on the device.
  • The Circuit Mono Station can also be used to control separate hardware via CV, Gate and modulation outputs, and has MIDI In, Out and Thru, so other MIDI gear can be connected.
  • Using the audio input with the mod sequencer, a source can be modulated, evolved and processed.
  • Circuit Mono Station can be plugged into Mac or PC, via USB, where unlimited patches can be kept using Components.

  1. For what it is, it’s so overpriced. Maybe a four part analog drum section to spice up to $500 would make sense. Regardless novation support is above and beyond so with firmware updates this could get more interesting. I’ll just stick to my digital circuit until then…

    1. I’m not so sure that’s true. the synth is good–i love my bs2–but the crucial thing is the sequencer with cv/gate. have you looked at what it would cost to get similar sequencing capabilities in eurorack? i might well end up getting one just for that.

      1. I totally agree except that a lot of budget producers do not use eurorack. Heck a lot of non-budget producers don’t use it, so for me this comment is null. But if that’s why you justify it, why not just get a normal circuit for $150 cheaper that has similar capabilities…

    2. Yeah I want to like this but there’s just enough caveats that are keeping me from getting on board with it. If it’s based on the Bass Station II then where’s the Acid filter and the other envelope?

    3. Agree. Behringer has shown that most of this stuff is incredibly overpriced. I feel kind of duped now. Throwing around words like “boutique” etc. to justify the price. Locally sourced and organic, small batch, etc. Total B.S. marketing.

      1. Behringer has released only one synth, the Deep Mind 12. While it was aggressively priced at about $1000, it also has some significant voicing limitations (the second DCO only outputs pulse waveforms). It’s interesting to note that the Deep Mind 12 is now being sharply discounted by retailers, which suggests soft sales.

        1. Dam, they could have announced the price drop! OR maybe its just specific stores. Had my eye on it for a while. I just keep hearing great sounds form that thing, thick and warm. Wish this was back in the days when stores carried product so you could test things out.

        2. ‘Sharply Discounted’? Where? In the US, there is no retailer that I am aware of selling the Deepmind 12 new for less than $999. Please provide links, if possible…
Also, based on every conversation I’ve had with retailers, the DM12 has been an unmitigated success.
While it’s possible that sales have dipped slightly in light of the DeepMind 6 and Deepmind 12 desktop being released soon, I seriously question the assertion that the sales were ever ‘soft’.

        3. Sources?? It’s $999 everywhere. Behringer themselves put some refurbished up on eBay a few months ago, but that was the only discount I’ve been aware of. I think you’re missing her mark on this one.

          1. Moog Audio in Montreal sent out an email this week advertising the DeepMind 12 for CAD $1000 with coupon code DEEPM12 . That’s about USD$780.

            1. Well that is one store in one location. That’s hardly “sharply discounted by retailers.” It is $999 at every US retailer, as Google Shopping will show you.

  2. I’d love Novation to make a sampler with similar features to the Digitakt but at the Circuit price point. I know you can load samples into circuit, but it’s not the same!

  3. Worth remembering: Novation provides excellent support and good customer service (IME). What they’ve done to continue to extend the capabilities of the original circuit augurs well for this product. Purchases are not a one-time only deal. They are about establishing a relationship.

  4. 1 – 2 – 3
1, I have plenty of gear to interact with it & i like clever sequencers, so it makes more sense to me.
2, I agree, as “your first synth” it is a bit expensive and minimalisitc.
3, Delays are the Monosynths best freinds – so wanted to see a synced delay instead of a distortion there.

I guess in a setup with cv and FX it can rly shine!

(no i don’t know if i should get one – not an easy decision – ofc for 300€ i would instantly order one – i like monosynths.)
