Yamaha CS-60 Hands-On Demo

This video, via synthesist Raymond Castile, is a walk-through of the Yamaha CS-60 synthesizer, with a lot of improvised noodling along the way.

Castile avoids taking the clinical approach, instead trying to explore the CS-60 musically. Instead of dry sounds, he includes effects and digs into how the instrument's modulation options bring otherwise sterile sounds to life.

The CS-60 tends to get overshadowed by its big brother, the CS-80. But you can instantly hear the similarities. And the way Castille approaches the CS-60 recalls the classic work of Vangelis.
