Synthesis Technology E352 Cloud Terrarium Eurorack Module Hands-On Demo

This video, via DivKid, offers an in-depth hands-on demo of the new Synthesis Technology E352 Cloud Terrarium, a powerful digital VCO for Eurorack modular synthesizers.

The E352 combines the Cloud and Morphing algorithms found in the SynthTech’s E340 Cloud Generator and the E350 Morphing Terrarium.

Key Features:

  • User-defined wavetables loaded via microSD card
  • 16K color 240 x 320 TFT LCD display
  • Grayhill mil-spec optical encoder for data entry
  • 16-bit wavetables (versus 8-bit for the E350) for 5x lower noise & THD
  • Contains all 192 of the original E350 wavetables
  • LFO mode, variable Glitch Energy and other added features

Pricing and Availability

The E352 Black Panel Version is available to pre-order for US $469 from the Synthesis Technology site. A silver-paneled version will is expected to be available via SynthTech dealers by the end of Sept 2017.

  1. I don’t even use a modular and I still want this thing. Great, now I’ve got a new addiction to resist. This would be one hell of a first module. You can get more and more from fewer modules all the time. Very impressive design.

    1. I tell people I got in modular for analog, and then immediately contradict myself by telling them Braids is the first osc they should buy 🙂

  2. I love traditional analog modules as much as anybody. But if you listen to modules like this and the MI Braids, you realize that digital is working hard to earn its place in your rig!

  3. The sound of this thing is great, and the display is good to have. The menu system seems a little bit fiddly, though. But this must be the best digital eurorack oscillator ever

  4. So cool. This is a great example of digital doing what digital does well, as opposed to trying to rehash legacy analogue machines (::cough, Roland::). It seems to me that one of the main benefits of eurorack is being able to tailor your ratio of great-sounding classic analogue to also great-sounding digital innovation.

  5. this isn’t about analog vs digital.

if you love synthesis…you love it

sure…there are analog synths that excel at certain sounds. awesome. they have an interface I know well and can dial in sounds endlessly while enjoying the heck out of it.

I love huge analog modulars. My favorite thing about modulars though is I like to dream up “synths.” or more accurately…Voices. these OSC with this modulation abilities done via this with these VCAs and these filters with voices routed thusly modulated by this with is control by this or this…or these other 8 things through these VCAs controled by these ENVs and then the whole thing is buttfucked by a f(h) Plague Bearer

analog or not doesn’t even factor into these setups… its all about what tool fits or is fun to use at the time

you ever play a rhodes?…you ever play a rhodes through distortion? you ever play rhodes through a Thermonic Culture Vulture and an Eventide H8000? you ever play rhodes through a Thermonic Culture Vulture and an Eventide H8000 on WEED?
