Bastl Instruments Thyme Effects Processor Now Available To Pre-Order

The Bastl Instruments Thyme effects processor is described as ‘a sequenceable robot-operated digital tape machine’.

It’s a stereo effects processor, designed for the exploration the vast space between classical multi-effects categories (delay, phaser, reverb, chorus, pitch shifter, multi-tap delay, tape delay, tremolo, vibrato, compressor).

Each of the 9 different parameters (Tape Speed, Delay Coarse & Fine, Feedback, Filter, extra heads Spacing and Levels, Dry Wet Mix and Volume) has a dedicated, flexible modulation source – called the Robot – which can be phased out differently for left and right channel to create psychedelic new sound effects.

The Robot can either be an LFO with many different waveshapes, external CV source or an envelope follower, to enable effects reacting to dynamics.

On top of everything there are 8 buttons to select a preset and those presets can be sequenced by a built-in meta sequencer. The Sequencer, the Robots and the Delay can be synchronized to external or internal clock.

Thyme interfaces with MIDI, analog clock and CV, it has a switchable stereo/mono input, stereo output, headphone output with level and foot switch jack.

Pricing and Availability

Thyme is available for pre-order for €439.00 excl. tax. The first batch is expected to ship in January 2018.

  1. I don’t understand why such a cool machine gets messed up with such bad naming and graphics. It looks like the owner”s mistress was hired to make the product “cool” and “fresh”.

    1. well, i’m trying to think of other boutique delays to compare to and all i can come up with is the oto bim, which is a bit more expensive and less powerful. that said, it’s still pretty tough to stomach the price.
