Roland SE-02 MIDI Patch Editor & Controller

Developer Momo Müller has released SE-02 Midi Editor, and unofficial patch editor & MIDI controller for the Roland Boutique Synth SE-02.

Here’s what Müller has to say about it:

It is perfect to integrate the SE-02 into your DAW. It makes it easier to adjust the sound accurately, which is difficult with the small knobs.

The Editor gives you access to the controller on the SE-02 interface, and also direct access to hidden parameters.

The „SE-02“ parameters can be automated, they can be stored in your Project.

You can save your sound on the SE-02 Synth or as  VST Presets (..fxp) in the DAW.

With the X-Y-Pad any controller can be selected and controlled.

Pricing and Availability

SE-02 Midi Editor is available now for 5,90€, as VST and Standalone for PC 32/64 Bit, and Mac as VST, AU and Standalone.

  1. Heads up. If you use Logic, his editors don’t work right with it (due to the way Logic handles external midi instruments). Also, Mr. Müller only uses Ableton Live so if you need technical support on another DAW, proceed with caution. I purchased his editors for JU-06, JX-03, JP-08 and Minilogue. Though it states it works with AU, it really doesn’t as a practical matter. You’ve been warned.

  2. Made the SE-02 Midi Editor working in Logic X.

    1. Create a External instrument and chose your SE-02 device and midi channel. (this will be the main track for the SE-02)
    2. Create a new vst track and choose the SE-02 midi editor. Setup the right channels within the plugin. (this will only be the control for the SE-02)

Important to MUTE the vst track afterwards. Some weird noises will appear otherwise.

  3. @Momo:
Hi, thnx, nice work. Question: using Win10 & Ableton, I noticed two things:
Bank selector does not seem to work, and , while saving and reopening .fxp sound on Se-02 is muted until I select other program no. Any ideas?
    Thnx, best,
    Bert

  4. @momo. Loving the new tool, But one thing I can’t get to work, is recording automation using the SE-02 controls, it works great to tweak the plug in, and this gets recorded, and tweaking the SE02 controller, changes the sound, and is reflected in the plug in UI, but not recorded as automation. Should it be able to do that? Or do I need to connect differently when recording my live jamming? Love this tool otherwise. Thx
