µBraids SE Voltage-Controlled Macro Oscillator For Eurorack Modular Synthesizers

Massachusetts based Tall Dog Electronics has introduced the µBraids SE, a voltage-controlled digital oscillator/sound source in 8HP Eurorack format.

It’s based on the Mutable Instruments Braids module, and offers a wide range of creative and useful sound generation algorithms. The original microBraids (aka µBraids) is a compact version of Braids, designed by Magpie Modular and Neutron Sound and is available as a barebones DIY project.

This redesigned µBraids SE (Special Edition) updates and simplifies the component layout and has a new panel design. It utilizes a custom miniature segmented LED module, eliminating the need for a 2nd microprocessor and its supporting circuitry.

µBraids SE remains fully compatible with future upstream Braids firmware upgrades and any other alternate firmwares that are compliant with the standard Braids design.

“We are making this product with both Olivier’s knowledge and his permission,” notes Tall Dog’s Michael Wm. Gilbert. Mutable Instrument’s Olivier Gillet recently retired the original Braids module design.

Pricing and Availability

The µBraids is available assembled for UZS $325 or as a DIY kit for $235.
