‘Patch & Tweak’ Now Available To Pre-Order

Patch & Tweak, a new book that explores modular synthesis by authors Kim Bjørn and Chris Meyer, is now available to pre-order via a Kickstarter project.

Bjørn is the author of Push Turn Move, a look at the design of synthesizers.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

PATCH & TWEAK provides an opportunity for new and experienced users to become true masters of their modular systems. In the style of its predecessor, PATCH & TWEAK contains inspirational interviews with significant creators and major artists that share their passion for modular. Explore their systems, philosophies, patching secrets, and performance tips.

PATCH & TWEAK has a foreword by Suzanne Ciani, is written by Kim Bjørn and Chris Meyer, and edited by Paul Nagle.

  1. As a long time modular synth user I’m getting really, really sick of the fetishization of “modular” synths.

  2. Just what synths needed: a coffee table book.

Great for… who knows who, since are tons of tutorials and videos in the universe already.

    1. Different strokes for different folks.

I’m like “Hell, yeah! Finally a coffee table book for people like me!”

    2. Cant put youtube on your coffee table. Id rather have a shelf full of graphic novels, art reference and music books over anything else.

  3. No need to comment. In the past there were hundreds of books only for MIDI. Modular is still the best thing around, only some people suck. My personal credits go to the silent developers like Olivier from Mutable or Mr. Clarkson from O|D (beside many others), which really put modular technology and programming to a whole new level of integration and quality. Some of their modules are complete on their own. So perfect and good sounding. “Artists” should worship them before every gig. Unfortunately the really important people in modular world will never write books. 🙁

  4. The book looks great, but having recently moved, I have sworn off accumulating big heavy expensive “coffee table” books. I hope they eventually release a digital version.
