Behringer Model D 19″ Rack Mount Ears

Bespoke Rack Ears has introduced a set of custom third-party rack ears for the Behringer Model D synthesizer.

The brackets make it possible to install the Model D into a standard 19″ rackmount cabinet or stand. They’re made from 3mm laser-cut mild steel and powder coated in matte black, providing a smooth, durable finish.

The rack ears are mounted using the standard Model D end panel screws.

Pricing and Availability

The custom rack ears for the Behringer Model D are available to pre-order for £25 plus shipping. See the Bespoke Rack Ears FB page for details.

  1. Am I the only one that wonders if Synthtopia is getting paid by Behringer? I’m genuinely curious re: what seems to be an inordinate amount of coverage.

    1. Makes sense to cover the most popular synth introduced in the last year, doesn’t it?

Look at the “trending posts’ and ‘What people are talking about’ headings in the right columns. The Behringer D has been on those lists pretty steadily since it was introduced.

      1. ^ This, exactly.

And there have been so many questions about the Behringer D: “does it sound as good as a real moog?” (yes, because it copied the circuits) “is it evil?” (yes, just as evil as the studio electronics midimoog, and all those unlicensed VSTs, and all those cheap Fender/Gibson guitar knockoffs, and your smartphone) “is it as well-built?” (internally, yes; knob/switch wise not so much); “can I use it in a nice wooden enclosure like a moog?” (yes, you can buy or make one) “can I rack mount it?” (yes, now you can.)

      2. ^This

(Hmm, Somehow my original reply got eaten and now I can’t edit it since it’s gone.)

But yeah, the Behringer D is definitely newsworthy and buzzworthy, as is answering various questions about it.

(Anyway regarding clones I meant to say Studio Electronics Midimini.)

    2. Behringer provokes debate, for good or ill. Websites make their money from people clicking on them and seeing the paid advertisements. Even without getting kickbacks from Behringer, synthtopia is still making money from all the people who like to debate about them.

    3. Jim

Synthtopia is completely transparent about advertising and sponsorships, and suggesting otherwise is offensive, because it’s essentially a personal attack on us as the publishers.

The site is ad-supported. You can see exactly who advertises on the site as you visit. Behringer has never placed an ad with Synthtopia or sponsored any of our event coverage.

Our content decisions are not driven by who advertises on the site, but by what drives page views over the long run. This is based on what we think is newsworthy and what readers think is newsworthy, based on things like page views and comments.

If you have suggestions for things you’d like to see covered that you think we may have missed, there is a ‘Feedback’ link at the top of every single page of the site.

  2. Yikes, so many articles about cool stuff get zero to maybe a handful of comments on Synthtopia, while anything posted related to Stealoldergearinger and its coo coo for Cocoa Puffs in the comments. Model D is like the second coming, seriously too funny.

  3. I think the model d etc is a basic bread and budder boring synth, but I love seeing people go insane over their problems with the behringer D’s existence, so keep em coming!

    1. I imagine the rack ears and keyboard stand will probably fit the neutron since they seem to be the same size as the D.

    2. The Neutron hasn’t been released, so nobody’s reviewing it, demoing it, making tutorials for it, etc.

Once it is released, it still won’t generate as much buzz, because the Behringer D is riding Moog’ coattails. The Neutron will have to generate buzz on its own merits, which will never excite people as much as getting a ‘cheap minimoog’.

  4. I give these accessory makers a year before Behringer wipes them out.

They way they emulate/clone/rip off other company’s ideas, there’s no way they won’t come out with these sort of accessories.
